Psych.....going to see Madonna on Thursday night!

Was just offered two tickets to see Madonna's "Reinvention" tour on Thursday night at the Forum. She just opened her tour here last night and the one review I read so far was awesome. I'm psyched! Here's the review from Out.com:

"At Monday night’s opening of Madonna’s Re-Invention tour there were no pregnant nuns. There were no racy same-sex kisses. No crotch-grabbing. No rambling speeches. And no (surprisingly) encore. What there was, however, was 105 minutes of non-stop energy—the very best of the Material Girl (yes, she sings it—despite swearing she never would again). The 45-year-old performer had the sold-out crowd at the Great Western Forum in Los Angeles on their feet from the beginning of her relatively obscure “The Beast Within” which led into her biggest hit, “Vogue.” The show, which was attended by Madonna’s husband, Guy Ritchie, actress Jeanne Tripplehorn, and power mogul Barry Diller with power agent Bryan Lourd, was also fiercely political at times as the gigantic video screens showed visuals of war during “American Life” (with a controversial shot of George W. Bush at the end) and images of global troubles (especially the Israeli–Palestinian conflict) during “Imagine”—the one non-Madonna song of the evening. Religious imagery (both Christian and Kabbalah-influenced) also found its way into several tunes. Still, the night was mostly high-energy with the singer (impressively) belting out her hits like “Like A Prayer,” “Express Yourself,” “Crazy For You,” “Frozen,” “Music,” “Into the Groove,” and even her first single, “Burning Up,” as the audience burned up in the rather toasty arena. “You think we’re hot,” actress Shannon Elizabeth pointed out, “imagine what it’s like for her on stage.” Very true. Despite not dancing quite as much as she has in past tours, the elaborate stage settings (a giant turntable stage; a V-shaped catwalk lowered from the ceiling, which allowed the singer and her 12 dancers to parade deep into the audience; and well-incorporated video monitors—all of which could teach Britney and Christina a thing or two about well-produced and thought-out shows) more than made up for it. “I loved her use of multi-media,” Elizabeth told us after the concert. “It was sensory overload!”"

that's odd, this review kinda trashed the show

http://www.thisislondon.com/til/jsp/...temId=10974892

Quote:
Fans noticed that mother of two Madonna was slower than on previous tours and struggled through some energetic dance and yoga moves wearing a bandage on her knee and arm.

This hinted at the efforts she had gone through in the name of suppleness. It was hardly the start fans had hoped for - and it is three years since her last world tour.

One fan spoke of being "horrified" by the show before walking out.

That article doesn't sound like a review to me at all. And who ever heard of that website anyway? Hopefully, Madge has recovered from her illness and will perform tonight and tomorrow. I can't wait to see her again. Listened to the Immaculate Collection on my way in today to get pumped for tomorrow night!

Everyone should wear red always. Or at least something should be red.
You'd be a real standout!

I heard she tried to borrow Bono's but he needed it himself tonight! So, she'll just have to make due without it!

Well, the concert was awesome...much more than I expected really. The stage mechanics (engineering) was amazing. She performed LOTS of her old stuff which really got the crowd going. From what I could tell, she sang most everything "live" except for some of her newer stuff like the James Bond theme. She sounded very good. She does not dance as much as she used to but she had about 12 HOT dancers to do that and they were great. The show was filmed last night too. There were signs everywhere saying that by entering the Forum we were agreeing to them using our images, etc. Not sure if it was filmed for the upcoming broadcast on CBS or for some other purpose. Anyway, it was definitely worth the price of admission. Realistically, since she is 45 now, this is probably the last time she'll do a big tour, so I'm glad I got to see it.
