Had a blow out. Going to buy M Pars and new tires. A few questions?
So last night at work, I had a blowout while riding down the highway. Luckily I heard/felt it in time, and was able to get pulled over before the rim got any damage. I got out the BMW tool kit and started to jack up the car. Got the car jacked up, pulled off the blown tire, put on the spare, let the car down, and boom the spare goes flat as well. I don't really like my style 19 rims so instead of buying 4 new tires, I am going to buy these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/150786838670...84.m1423.l2649 My question is, with these wheels, what size tires will I need to run on them? I have stock suspension, so I shouldn't have to roll any of the fenders with these correct? I have 5 Style 19 rims, will they bring enough to cover the cost of the new rims and 4 tires? I was thinking they are worth about $1000.00. Thanks, in advance, I have been wanting to put new rims on this car since I bought it and this seems like the best time.

A couple things first of all m parallel tire sizes have been discussed a lot on this forum a search would turn up some info. Here is one thread discussing tire sizes.
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...highlight=tire I don't think your used style 19s are worth $1,000 even if they are in mint condition. Some people like them, but I do not think they are popular enough to command that much. But hey you never know you might find the right buyer. I am thinking maybe $400-$700 depending on the condition is more realistic. Maybe post some detailed pics of the rims so and people will give you an idea of what they feel they are worth. As far as the replica M parallels just make sure you are getting them from a reputable source. Not all replica wheels are equal some are total junk and do not hold up very well at all. I think in extreme cases the rims can bend easily. I would maybe do some searching and see what sources people have had luck with. Perhaps your ebay link is to one of the preferred sources, I'm just not sure myself. Also it is not a big concern for most people but replicas are usually really heavy, just so you know.

I love the M Par look. Have you considered refurbished OEM? That way you know the quality is there, you save money and some refurb places do a really nice job.
If you're going 18, I think the stock 2003 M-Sport tires were 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear.

imho, i don't think that your going to be able to get 1k for your style 19's. realistically, your looking in the $500 range. maybe abit more if you sell all 5 wheels. but that would leave you w/ no spare. style 19's are something that you either like or don't like. some of the e36 guys run them as well.
the stock oem tire sizes are 235/40/18 front & 265/35/18 rear. you can find this information on your door jam. in theory you should not have to roll the fenders but you never know until you mount them on the car. if you are running stock original suspension & your rear shocks are weak, you may experience some rubbing or bottoming out when you hit a dip w/ passengers in the rear or a load in the trunk. discount tire direct has mpar reps for $140 for 18x8 & $150 for 18x9.5 w/ a $50 rebate & free shipping. total $542. i wouldn't buy wheels off ebay as there is limited recourse in the event something goes wrong. may be able to get a better deal if you buy tires from them as a package deal. good luck. cheers, larry

My real problem is that I don't like the style 19s, and have been planning on changing them out. I don't want to give them away, because I know that some people do like them and will pay a little more. I pretty much need two new rear tires, but don't want to go spending money on tires for 17 inch rims if I'm going to replace them with 18s soon. Then my brand new tires will be worthless. I'm not dead set on the M pars either, but I like them the best.
I don't have any pics of the style 19s, but they are in really good shape to not have been refinished. Better than most used style 19s I have seen. Discount tire actually has some really good prices. Has anyone bought reps from them? Also, it may be a stupid question, but the fronts can only be 8 inches wide right? I went ahead and ordered two 18x9.5 M Parallel Replicas from discount tire. They are supposed to have a representative call me tomorrow and let me know when I can pick them up (they are only 35 miles away). $324.00 for two 18" rims isn't bad at all. Once I get these, I will have tires fitted on them and then I will be able to get my car up and running again. I would like to keep my tire price down under 250.00 for two tires so I more than likely won't be putting a really high end tire on them. I'm going to wait a week or so before I buy the fronts just to let my bank account recuperate. Everywhere I read said that the stock lug bolts will work with the M Pars...is this true?

I would keep the style 19s, but I have become disgusted with them. I liked them at first, then I saw an e39 with M Pars up close and realized that my style 19s just looked bad(to me at least). I checked on refinishing price, and I can buy 4 reps for close to the same price it would cost me to let someone refinish my style 19s. I figured it up, and if I get $700.00 for my style 19s then I'll only be $300.00 in the hole from this. If I had of bough two new tires, I would be $300 in the hole with the same rims. Teklord, weren't you looking for some style 19s?

Here is a thread about M pars from discount tire direct. I have not read through it myself so I don't know if people are happy with them or not.
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39...re-direct.html As far as how wide a wheel you can run on the front. Some of the M5 guys run a square setup by buying a set of rear style 65 wheels from someone else and running them on the front of their car. I think they run 275s all around so they can rotate their tires. I also think they usually need a spacer to clear the strut. The style 65s are 9.5x18 et 22. It would probably depend on the the width offset combo of the wheels you buy, but I think 9.5s would fit, 9s might even fit without spacers depending on the offset. I am not sure if there are negatives to running a very wide front tire like 275s up front especially with replica wheels that may be very heavy. I am not sure if that would put increased stress on certain components and make certain suspension piece wear out more quickly. But there are people are running 19s with some decent sized tires so it may not be much of an issue.

I see...well mine are officially for sale now. I have 5 of them so if anyone wants them PM me an we will work out a deal. It will still be about 2 weeks before all four are available, but I will hold them for someone if they want them. The front rims have tires that are about 50% tread. The other tires are shot.
I think when I purchase the front rims, I will just go with 18x8. I like the staggered look and that is what is on my car now and they ride very good.

The rims should be here monday. For the time being, my car is sitting with the two back wheels pulled off. I should have the new tires on all 4 of my new rims by the end of next week. The car should look sweet when I get these M Pars on. I'll definitely post some pics when I get them on.

I might be interested in your Style 19s if the price is right. I'm planning on picking up a set for snows next fall. I'm in no hurry but I'm looking for a square setup on OEM wheels for winter driving. I'm on 18" staggered style 71s for summer.

Go oem mpars all day. Knock offs suck and tend to bend easier then oem.

You guys may like the style 19s, and I did too at first, but everytime I see another e39 with M5 rims or M Pars, I am jealous. To me the style 19s don't look bad by themselves, but when a car with M Pars or most other large diameter BMW rims parks next to mine, they look horrible.

I got my 18 inch m-par reps from discount tire direct and could not be happier. However, about the tires, unless you adjust your rear camber you are going eat through your rear tires on the inside shoulder. So, before you go buying those eye appealing low-profile beauties be warned.

The stock bolts do work with the m pars.If you use wheel spacers as I did you will need longer lugs.I didn't want the 25 and 13 offset so I put 10mm spacers in the front. Now its 23 in the front and 25 in the back speaking of the offset.

Once I refurb my style 19's and bolt on 15mm spacers my car will be looking a whole lot better. The only wheels I'll get to replace my style 19's are bbs ch's or HRE's.

I am done sanding and polishing 1 of my style 19's. Three more to go! This is a lot of work folks..Think twice if you want to do this yourself. I am not sure if I should clear coat it or just leave it "bare" polished metal.
