Performance chip?

have anyone tried the chip on 740i/740il/750il?.. I heard they will add about 30+ hp and 5 mpg... will it really work? Will it give problems? Tell us about it guys, I know some of you have or know about it! Thanks...

What chip are you talking about?

You'll need to give us more info, what mods are you currently running?
what chip are you planning on purchasing?

All those eBay chips are crap, and they aren't real chips, they are resistors that connect to your MAF or IAT and fools your ecu into thinking that colder air is coming into the engine thus using more gas, which in terms people think that the more fuel the more power.

Now your car is using much more fuel than it needs and might cause pre-detonation and/or running rich which can harm your o2 sensors....

Headers, exhaust, cold air intake an an ECU reflash...

But keep in mind you'll probably spend anywhere between $500 to $1k and only get ~20hp max...

Doesn't the 4.4 have enough power anyway?

Here is the one I would consider. Nothing but positive feedback for this guy...I am thinking of doing it also. Any feedback from anyone who has done this would be great...

There is a member over on BimmerFourms that is doing a tune for some/most of the 740's - I bought one from him several months ago as have many others there and BimmerBoard. I done know if I would say it will give you 30 hp but it is noticeable for sure, pulls stronger all the way to red line and more.

He can remove speed limiter, increase shift points and a few other things - search DUDMD. He is in WA....as I recall. He does everything by internet - you down load your tune send to him, he modifies the mapping and returns to you for you to reinstall in your ECU. If you don't feel comfortable with this he will also set up an on line time for you to connect with him and he will do the computer work for you...don't know if that is extra. This also requires a cable from your diagnostic port to your computer - from eBay about 20.00 or work with him to borrow a cable and return to him.

I have his tune along with the SprintBoster for the low end improvement - recommend both of these items, they work. Look up sprintbooster.com for info - Oh, you must have drive by wire for this to work - the black box under your gas pedal.

FYI - You can install a Sprint Booster in a 7 without the black box under the gas pedal, but it requires making a small custom harness:

Just had Dmitriy (DUDMD) install the software into my car. Been driving it for a few days. It is worth the money. For lack of better words, the car has awaken or become much more responsive and quick to accelerate. It is hard to start off the line slowly anymore as the car is very quick to accelerate. I would suggest horsepower gains and probably as peppy as it has become, gas mileage has to be better. He has advance the timing just right where it should be and adjusted the fuel ratio to accommodate for what I believe is the best performance for this car. I am startled every time I drive it now. Worth the money at $250.00, you will notice the difference. But remember you are not bolting on a turbo charger. If you want turbo performance changes, get a turbo.
