What extended warranty companies are recommended when buying pre-owned 535i?
Car we are considering has 52+K....we can get an 'independent' extended warranty (was told once car reaches 4yrs or 50K ,whichever comes first) that BMW will not issue an extended warranty...so any names of companies issuing such policies via a non-BMW dealer will be appreciated. Thank you in advance...Edythe

You should be able to buy a 3rd party extended warranty at any time. In fact, if you wait until the factory warranty expires, many warranty prices go up. Also, some warranties have a 30-60 waiting period before they go into effect, so (IMHO) it's best to be covered by both for a short period of time vs no coverage.
I bought my extended warranty @43K miles 1 month before the 4 yr factory warranty expired, giving me an ADDITIONAL 5 years (107 months!) or a TOTAL of 100K mile warranty. I went through my credit Union to purchase a Route 66 $0 deductible plan for ~$2400 with tax. Have not had any cliams yet. You should know thay they require oil changes at least every 6 months or 6K miles and did not care that I used synthetic or that this exceeeded BMW specs. Not a deal breaker for me since I usually change at 7500 or 12 months anyway. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I went with an AUL no deductible plan and the price was comparable to the previous poster's, roughly $2400.
Main reason I went with AUL is because my local BMW dealer recommended it and when speaking with them said when I bring the car in to them with the AUL warranty the process is pretty much the same as when I had my original warranty and the transition would be seemless. So far, so good.

Yes, I had to use it. Called up BMW service dept, told them about the problem with the door actuators, asked if it was covered by AUL, they said yes, I took it in, they gave me a loaner car, washed my car and picked it up at the end of the day all fixed up and ready to go and was out of pocket $10 because I had to re-fill their loaner car.

That sounds great !! i know people complain about after-market 3rd party insurers - we were told about Zurich from dealer that has car we're considering...this is not a BMW dealer selling the car - it is a Buick agency....they're recommending ''Zurich'' ... just curious - did you try the non-sports suspension 535i ? we were concerned the sports suspension would give the car a 'stiffer, harder ride than one without the sports suspension... thanks again for your input ! |

I recently purchased the Rte 66 warranty for additional 5 yrs or 100k miles for 2400$. When I asked them about the 6000 mile limit for oil changes, the rep told me that there is no requirement.
