Help me pick my next car - is the GT for me?

Have 3 vehicles:

2011 X3 35i (wife's)
2011 F150 SuperCrew Ecoboost (Mine)
2009 Porsche Cayenne S (Mine / share with nanny)

Cayenne is going off lease. I want to replace it with something fun to drive and was originally thinking of getting something with a 3rd row. So, I was thinking X5 mainly because it has a 3rd row option. I am not a huge fan of X5 as I think the X3 is superior in many ways. I have loved the Cayenne but my lease budget maxed at $1,000 / month and I can't justify getting a new Cayenne S for $1,400 / month

I spoke to the wife last night and she thinks 3rd row is not necessary as we only really need it 2-3 times a year. So, she suggested a 5-series sedan. Then I came across the GT. Since I already have a truck at my disposal, what is the advantage to me getting a 550 sedan vs. a 550 GT?

If I didn't have to share this car with the nanny, I would be getting a Cayman S. But, wife is demanding at least a backseat with 4 doors. So, for the first time in my life, I really don't know what car I want. Do I get a high performance sedan like a 550? Do I get a SUV? Do I get a GT? I like driving the F150 and Cayenne S for different reasons, but ever since I got rid of my heavily modified 335, I haven't been quite the same...

So, help out a 33yr going through an early mid life crisis....

This is a very personal thing, but a couple of things for the GT vs the 5-series sedan:
- it's taller than the sedan (both good and bad)
- it is based on the 7-series sedan, so has more room than the sedan both front AND rear
- the hatch lets you carry more if needed on occasion, but with the truck, that'd be the primary hauler
- it comes with more 'standard' equipment than the sedan and has most of the 7-series options available.

Some people love the look, some hate it. Many BMW 'purists' hate it - I think it looks okay, and works well for me.

Drive it in comparison to the sedan...it has various handling options - some love the dynamic handling package, some like the sport option. Coming off the Cayenne, you would probably like one or both of those. Lots of choices on seats, both for the front AND rear. The 550 is deceptively fast, but I find the 535 more than adequate, but I don't load it up. The turbo makes insane amounts of torque at low RPMs, and that masks any power deficet, if you want to call it that. Some hate the RFT, I tolerate mine - there is NO place to put a spare, even a compact one, so going to 'normal' tires is a risk.

Drive A GT & Your Answer Will be Clear

We have just ordered a 2013 535I GT and we have looked at just about every car out there and nothing gives you as much as this car does. From sporty to roomy this car handels and is comfortable all in one. Once you drive it the 535 is just not a consideration in our opinion. Good luck with your decision.
