My JapanRot E39 *Pics*

Hello All!

I made a thread around this time last year on BF.C with the title "How an non-m5 e39 should look like"... well needless to say that went to Sh*t considering, nothing I've done resorts to what my initial plans were :cool

That being said, I figured I'd post a little progress thread on its current state.
I do 95% of the work myself, and I'm def a curious minded one when it comes to DIY and just projects.

Here's a recap of where I stood about 8-10 months ago

Stock: Day I bought it (2010)



Suspension done (FK Coilovers)



Shadowline Trim





Recent:



Currently re-finishing some style 19's and those will be up for sale within the month



Curious mind kicked in and wanted to see what it would look like on mine, even though I dont plan on running them (so i think for now)



and today I frenched my headlights..







And now the Update

Sold the style 19's, 17" rims looked a little to small for this car. So kept it somewhat OEM and went with some Style 65, M5 wheels.



They are getting wrapped in 245/275 Conti Extreme DW. Why Conti? With the NW weather, I feel that its one of the best tire's for this state's weather patterns.



Here's a little teaser. Note: The suspension is still in winter mode for the blizzaks and the crazy weather here in the NW.



I also went with a Matte Black vinyl roof wrap.





People have asked why matte over gloss, especially with the sunroof being shiny and glossy.... Well, I think matte adds a little aggression to the car. Looking at it, one really doesn't pay attention to the sunroof... Been getting nothing but compliments, but again, each opinion is to its own..

Whats to come? I have no idea... I'll post as ideas come to mind, but it'll be something different and things one doesn't usually see done with these cars...but with that being said, it wont be "riced" out or ruined.. it'll have a clean OEM look, otherwise the project gets scrapped.

Forward to about 3 weeks after the roof vinyl install. I remove the roof, as it doesn't go w/ Red. Just looks a little ricey on a red 5er. I've seen it look great on a white or silver one, but on this one just doesn't flow.

Tires and rims have been mounted with 17.5mm spacer up front and nothing in the rears and the suspension has been dialed in pretty good to my linking. I also added a Sport Steering Wheel (TALK ABOUT A FEEL GOOD UPGRADE)



Cant get to editing until sometime tomorrow, but here's a little teaser as I was washing her before the shoot today. Hoping to have the rest up by sometime tomorrow or Sat.

Where did yo pick up that vinyl roof wrap? My car is silver and it would look sweet on it. I also thought it looked good on yours. Not really sure why you took it off.

One of my friends has his own Vinyl Business, he did it for me.

Are you talking about the same vinyl roof that lincolns have? Or is it just the black film shown in the picture?

Its a black matte film, shown in the picture. Not sure what the lincoln's are like

Oh, no no.. this was just a matte vinyl that he brought w/ him, layed over and used a heat gun to stick it

I really like the French style (I think). I need to pick up a set from salvage just in case things go sideways or in case I don't like it as much as I think I do.

If you do, and don't like the ones that you french, I'll buy them for sure.

I know I promised pictures... But a week after my shoot, I began interior work that made me not want to post until I finished w/ everything... It's all going to be done this Sat, so I will take interior shots as well and post them up together .. (yes I know, i'm a dick for that, but you'll all live)

Here's what I've been up to ...

Picked up a MUCH needed roof rack (I do Mt. Biking pretty often, but w/ new interior (see below) I wasn't going to find a way to cram a bike in)



Here's a side view (Excuse the hipster instagram photo - only one I have uploaded)



Picked up some Sport Seats -



and then decided to DYE my whole interior.. I know I just purchased a black seat, but didn't want to go all black.. wanted something different. So going w/ a black dash & console, black carpet tobacco seats, and grey headliner/pillars...



The top and bottom of dash have been dyed to match all black, looks perfect now



Now onto the seats..







And I must say, the color combo's are flowing perfectly (Note: The center arm rest has been fixed, didn't notice until I took the picture.. just added more dye to it)



Just the front seats, carpet and door panels, and walla!

That's all she wrote I PROMISE... I PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE.. The next update will be exterior and interior pics
