Check engine warning light

When i picked up my z4 after a week vacation at the AirPort park & fly valet parking, the Check engine warning light was on an the battery seemed low (actually lost the time on onboard computer) and no other problem.

Now engine runs rough on start up when cold but everything seems normal after a few minutes (engine warms up) but light stays on
2009 z4. 3.5 dual clutch
Any suggestions, ideas

Take her to the dealer and get checked. If you are curious, you can use BMWhat App to check it out. More info here at:

Good Luck and keep us posted.

Your battery is 5 years old and you left it for a week in the cold without a trickle charger in a car that continuously draws power. Low battery indeed!

Hi - did you reset this OK ? I have exactly the same problem with a Z4 '54 plate I think. Running rough at cold, ok after engine warms up. Engine light permanently on.
Ran the BMW DIS software and no obvious faults found but does moan about battery voltage only being 12v when it starts up.
