Post Key Fob not working... works when it wants...

My key will sometimes work and other times not work to unlock/ lock doors... When it locks, gas door will not open.. I tried reprogramming by doing the pressing the lock key button, but still won't work... I checked the fuses in the glove box, they are fine. I thought it might be the battery, since it sometimes works, but I was told that can't be it, as the battery charges when you put it in the ignition.... Can anybody help...??? Please! Any suggestions????????

Sounds like the general module. Have you checked for any fault codes? If you have faults for central locking relays you need a new GM.

See www.bmwgm5.com for an overview of the GM5 general module and the problems with the locking relays. If all doors (and the fuel filler door) lock but fail to unlock from both the key fob and the interior key, your problem is likely the GM5 relays. Otherwise, probably it's something else.
