525i Parking Brake DIY

Hey guys so I'm back with my 2003 BMW 525i I had just taken off the exhaust when I got stumped on the driveshaft. Do I need to take off the cross member holding up the back end of the transmission or is there another way to get the drive shaft out?

Any advice would be appreciated.
