Good idea to get an extended warranty?

My warranty is just about up, im about to hit 50k miles.

Should i get this one extended warranty, it really costs a lot. Over 5 years it comes to about $4000, this is waht they dont cover

WHAT IS NOT COVERED:
Paint, carpet, bright metal, trim, sheet metal, bumpers, body panels, glass, physical damage, molding, upholstery, lenses, sealed beams, light bulbs, fuses, circuit breakers, cellular phones, television/VCR/DVD players, game centers, AM/FM radio/cassette/CD players and speakers exceeding three hundred dollars ($300) repair or replacement costs, audio/video equipment, all touch screen and/or voice activated accessories including related display screens and heads up displays on windshields, electronic transmitting/receiving devices, navigation systems, voice recognition systems, remote control consoles, radar detection devices, weather-strips, all exhaust components, the following emission components: purge valve/solenoids/sensors, vacuum canister, vapor return canister, vapor return lines/valves, air pump/lines/valves, emission vapor sensors, gas cap/filler neck, catalytic converter, battery, battery cables/harness, spark plug wires, fan belts, non metallic hoses, distributor cap and rotor, shock absorbers, manual/hydraulic clutch assembly, friction clutch disc and pressure plate, weather strips, trim, outside ornamentation, frame and structural body parts, vinyl and convertible tops, canvas top, any convertible top assemblies, fabric top, fiberglass top, hardware or linkages, tires, wheel/rims, wheel balances, safety restraint systems (including air bags), air and water leaks, wind noise, squeaks, rattles, all maintenance services including alignments, brake pads and shoes, brake rotors and drums, tune ups, coolants, lubricants.

LOL what exactly DO they cover

That's a good question...there was too much to read that wasn't covered!!! Haha

Can you ask them to clarify by asking your question of what IS covered? I'm guessing powertrain or something?

But at this point, you're better off selling/trading in your 2008 for an F10 with a new warranty. You can use that $4k in the downpayment...

Yeah i think its powertrain warranty and some other crap. Who here has an extended warranty after 50k? Is it really worth it? I mean how often does your 5 series need serious repairs? Worse comes to worse i can just charge it to the credit card, i dunno if a warranty is worth it, thats why i need some opinions

How long do you plan on keeping the car? 100k miles or more? Then get the warranty...you never know what could happen. Better safe than sorry; that's why I bought an extended warranty before I drove off the lot.

I think it depends on your car. My 535 has been hassle with warranty repairs. I know my luck I would have tons of repairs outside of warranty based on the track record.

Are you able to get a warranty at any time? Cause this warranty company i got in the mail said i have to extend the warranty by may 5th or something... Can i get a warranty at like 75,000 miles if i wanted to?

Whats a standard price for an extended warranty? Do you still have to pay a co-pay everytime you get your car repaired under the warranty?

If you are keeping the car I would seriously consider an extended warranty. The 2008 535 is not very reliable.

Warranty prices vary greatly. I ended up getting the BMW 7 year/100K platinum protection with $50 co-pay. I was able to get a decent price but had to shop around, get a key reading and get it all done before the earlier of 50K or 4 years from the in service date.

To qualify for the best extended warranties you need to do it before your original coverage expires. There are a lot of options available if you car is still under the original coverage. Send me a message if you are interested in a quote, I give very good prices for Bimmerfest customers.

Daniel nice to see you posting. Your prices are great - I could not get a local dealer to match it. I am one happy customer.

Do most after market warranties cover gaskets and seals in engine and cooling system? Just curious because I do not have a warranty and have put almost 6k into the car for almost entirely gasket and seal repairs. if these would have been covered than I guess i should have gotten a warranty. If not, I would have wasted 2-3k on the warranty and then paid an additional 6k for uncovered repairs on top of it. I'm asking more for the benefit of other festers who are considering purchasing an after market warranty.

Just looked at the Route 66 Deluxe warranty. Seals and leaks are not covered

Took a pic of the RT.66 Exclusion page with my phone to submit here. I hope you can read it.

i would look at easy care. i cant tell you the exact amount that was spent on my car but i have one repair bill for almost $6k that i only had to pay my deductible for ($250). if anyone is interested i could try to post the service records tomorrow if you want to know everything that was done and covered. plus they covered the mechatronics and a few other things all under warranty.

No matter what car you buy, crap happens after the new car warranty. If you are going to keep the car or drive a lot of miles during the finance period, get the extended warranty
.

I just got a quote from Dan @ Pacific BMW, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I really thought it would be more than that for a factory BMW extended warranty. Before my warranty expires next October I believe I'll be buying it from him.

Wink Buying 2013 Beemer 535i

Hey guys! I am buying a 2013 535i with M, premium, tech and sport auto packages with heads up display etc. It is not a CPO but they are wanting to sell me a similar warranty package for about 3k. Is this a good deal or can I get it cheaper somewhere else? Also, just as an fyi, this is my 3rd beemer and I love them! Just don't want to get completely jacked up by a dealer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
