Rate my deal... 2011 335d BMW Executive Demo

So as you can tell by my post count, this is my first post on this forum AND my first BMW! I've been lusting after BMWs since graduating from college, but could never fiscally justify it. (Afford it... yes... justify... no).

My wife & I just moved back from Finland after an 18-month job assignment and we needed to buy two cars and a house. Surprisingly, some good fiscal planning and saving made this purchase possible!

Anyway, enough of the background story... here's what I got. I think we had the advantage of it being at the end of the month and they wanted it off the lot.

Purchased at United BMW of Roswell just north of Atlanta, GA. This one was a BMW Executive Demo car.

*Side Note* I was told there are three levels of loaner or demo cars. (Could be a line, but it sounded legit) Loaners for service visits. Demos for local managers. And Executive demos for regional BMW executives. I bought the last type.

The car was put into service on my birthday, 10/26/2011, and had 3393 miles when I purchased it. It still has 3.5 years left on the 4 year service.

Here are the detailed specs:
2011 BMW 335d in Alpine White w/Saddle Brown leather (I LOVE this color combo!) & Aluminum Interior Trim
BMW Executive Demo with 3393 miles at purchase
ZPP Premium Package
ZSP Sport Package
7KB HDD Navigation
ZCV Convenience Package
LCD3 Saddle Brown Dakota Leather Seat Trim
ZCW Cold Weather Package
688 Harmon Kardon Surround Sound
7H8 BMW Assist
6FL Ipod & USB Adapter
655 Satellite Radio

Total MSRP was: $56,270
Dealer Price: $46,788
Total Price paid: $44,000

Post-Negotiation Add-Ons:
LoJack $545
IBex Leather Protection: $250
3-M Ceramic Window tint (35%): $300

Total Sales Price (before tax & doc): $45,095

I got a 1.99% APR for 72 months from Navy Federal Credit Union and put $12k down. The 72 monther was a no-brainer, as it lets me pay it off sooner with the lower monthly payments!

So... big question is... did I get a good deal!? I'll be honest, I was a sucker for the color combination. Pictures below: (if I can post as a new member)

Why put so much down at such a low rate? 1.99% is like free money. You should have done something better with it.

You shoulda put it into your house which no doubt has a higher interest rate or into some investments. That's essentially what I did when I bought my 335d exactly a year ago. Anyway, seems like a nice deal. It's a great car.

Edit: I just read that you're planning on paying it off sooner than the term of the loan. Don't. At 1.99% there are so many other ways to use your money more effectively. Just sayin'

You already bought it, you're obviously happy with the color and options, you really do not need to know what anyone else thinks now. Enjoy your new car, live a good life.

Sounds like a very good deal to me. Mine is basically identical except for the add ons and it cost me $44,000 new but that was European Delivery plus a $4500 Eco credit rebate. I like the color combo too, though I really like my Tasman Green/Saddle Brown too.

I picked mine up in Munich on 6/28/10 (an early 2011) and already have almost 40,000 miles!

Enjoy!

Check and see if the CPO was extended by 5k miles and 6 months from the in service date. BMW makes this adjustment for demo vehicles.

You did well. Great color combo. You will enjoy that car for a long time.

Yes, be sure the warranty is extended six months and 5,000 miles. Should happen automatically. Have them show it to you on the service history. If they tell you the car does not qualify, they are LYING. It absolutely qualifies. (side note - the car does not have the CPO warranty unless they specifically gave you CPO documentation. A car must have more than 6,000 miles or been in service at least six months to qualify.)

Congrats and welcome to the 'fest. You are going to find that you are ruined now to any other brand.

Not a bad deal. You're going to love the car. Wish I had saddle brown.

Enjoy!
