Redelivery of our 535i GT Deep Sea Blue Metallic

Finally home on Tuesday evening. A big thanks to Adrian Avila of BMW of South Atlanta. As everyone on the forum says, he is the MAN when it comes to European Delivery!

Wednesday at the crack of dawn, I was out washing it. I was happy to find that it did not get washed at the port and I requested that the dealer do no prep of any kind.

I did a clay and light machine polishing on the hood, front and rear bumpers, front fenders, then took it up to my clear bra guy (Derek Johnson of Atlanta Protective Films) install the xpel ultimate film on: front bumper, 24" of hood, matched over to the front fenders, mirrors, door handle cups and top of rear bumper.

After clear bra install:







Thursday 4 adults drove in total comfort down to Savannah, averaged 25.8 on the way down cruising at 84.

Back home Friday afternoon, 500 miles of bugs:

It was washed after and now sits in the garage hiding from the pollen.

Thank you Starryeyed! Yes, cinnamon interior. Driving down to FL in a few weeks, wishing I had the patience to set the cruise at 75 to see if 29+ mpg is possible.

Nice car! I got mine thru Adian 1 1/2 years ago. Easy transaction with him. I took a 9000 mile trip around the country and glad I put a clear bra on also. I did ave. 27.6 mpg and on one tank did 33mpg when in Canada all highway and not having to use the AC that much.

Welcome to the south. Its been in the 80s for the last week, pollen was a record 8000 shattering the previous record. We need some rain bad to wash the yellow madness away. Its going to be a brutal summer.

I had the lower part of the hood, actually they call it 24". Also the front part of the front fenders, door cups and top of the rear bumper.

Had our GT tinted at Oasis Window Tinting. 45% all around and 80% windshield carbon XP.

I have been using Oasis since 1991 and am always happy with the quality work they do.

Washed and then used Zaino Z8 spray sealant:

How durable is the tint - have you ever gotten scrathes in it?

what brand of tint is carbon xp?? it has a nice blueish gray color to it that seems like it would go great with carbon black?? Is it ceramic??

I was going to go with the Air Blue but my tint guy says its very very light.. i am waiting for samples to arrive so i can compare...

Guys, here is more info on the carbon XP film

Today I put her on jackstands, removed wheels, cleaned with Wolf's Decon Gel (Deironizer) and sealed with Wolf's Rim Shield x2.

Basically I use shine and seal by d/a polisher with a white pad and then apply body wrap by hand.

For cleaning wheels the decon gel is the best wheel cleaner on the market right now.

The nano car wash soap will keep body wrap at its peak performance.

For drying towels you want at least 2 of these:

i used this armor all wheel protector..last week claims to keep brakes dust form gathering...i gotta tell ya i am very impressed... a week of crazy driving and i have less then 5% of normal brake dust...

MP, Here is a good wash process:

I like to clean wheels and tires first with a different bucket and wash media (brushes, older MFs, ect) I say first as water does not need to be sitting on your paint while you clean wheels and tires.

Fill 2 buckets with water and add car wash soap to one of the buckets.

Rinse entire car down.

Using a sheepskin mit, wash one section using back and forth motions, not circles.

Dip mit in water bucket, agitate and wring out.

Mit in soap bucket and continue to wash.

Do not let soap dry on surface.

After you are done, take nozzle off of hose and with low water pressure sheet water off of paint.

Dry car with quality waffle weave drying towels.
