Mein Auto: 2011 535i Gran Turismo
I'm a 535i Gran Turismo owner now!!

I first saw the GT in a BMW lot over 2 years ago. Because a salesman at that time seemed too busy to help me, I ended up with an Acura ZDX later that day. All's forgiven now as I bought a GT last week, different dealership though :) I was actually looking to lease a 2012 GT, when an almost fully loaded 2011 with 6400 miles popped up at a dealer near me, at a huge discount from its original $78K MSRP.

Black Sapphire Metallic
Everest Gray Dakota Leather
Active ventilated seat package
Convenience Package
Cold Weather Package
Driver Assistance Package
Dynamic Handling Package
Luxury Rear Seating Package
Premium Sound Package
Sport Package
Rear View Camera
Navigation system
Head-up Display
Satellite Radio
Smartphone Integration

Would have loved to have the complete camera package, night vision and BMW Apps but I couldn't be happier that I made the move. Glad to be part of the Gran Turismo Club.

Wow! Nicely loaded and great color as well. Do you mind me asking how huge of a discount you received. I have a 2012 xDrive GT due to arrive at the end of the month but I never considered preowned...until now. :-)

welcome to the delightfully small world of GT owners...
You have in my eyes purchased one of the best BMW concepts made over the past 25 years...
this may be the only forum that essentially has no unsatisfied owners...hmmmmmm you would think the rest of the BMW world would recognize that...

I like you fell in love with the GT at first sight and couldn't wait for my X5 lease to be up to move into the first sedan i have owned in 25 years....

Truly the most versatile bmw on the road...

You are in for many days of smiles behind the wheel....

didn't notice if you got HUD but with or without keep your eyes on the speedometer...this is one smooth and fast pony..........90 feels like 50.......

enjoy

Welcome, enjoy your car and see you on the road!

Although, with as many BMWs as there are in our area I have only seen two other GTs on the road...

Hello there, don't mind at all. I got it for $52,800. MSRP was $78,525. Originally I was looking for a 2012 xDrive but don't really need it since I live near San Francisco. This is my first ever preowned. I don't really know how good a deal it is but it was almost fully loaded, the color I wanted, less than a year old, 6400 miles and $25,725 below MSRP.

Thanks for the welcome! It did come with HUD. It must be defective though because it never feels like I'm traveling as fast as it says I am Like you said, it is smooth and fast.

Thanks for the welcome! You're right about the number of BMW's on the road here. Until today I think I've only ever seen 2 out there. But today I saw a black one in San Francisco and a gray one in Emeryville. Was one of them you??

Nope, not me.
But if you see an Imperial Blue in Sport trim - wave. It might be me...

I think some window tint would be a nice finishing touch.

Smile I'm one too

Welcome to the GT club! I took delivery of mine this past mid-March
Like you, I also have a low mileage 2011 (2000 miles) that was BMW Executive-driven for only a year. My wife had bought a loaded 2010 335 xi pre-owned in early Nov 2011 and the few times that she let me drive it, I fell in love with the 3.0L 300HP engine. Being an SUV owner (07 Hyundai Santa Fe), I had set my sights on a X3 Beemer that was at least 2011 and also loaded like my wife's car. Her salesman was on "watch" for me and a few weeks later he e-mailed me about 'my next vehicle', 5-series Gran Turismo xi for which the dealership had successfully bid from BMW Canada. I was halfway through replying with a 'thanks but no thanks but I really wanted an X3' when I decided to research what a Gran Turismo was. I am glad I did and was immediately intrigued. I missed out on that one (it had 4500 miles on it) but there was another one exactly the same color (Sapphire Black on black leather) and the same options but with less mileage. I reserved a test drive and later that week my wife and I took a test drive. Afterward the salesman cleverly let us drive an X3 so my somewhat skeptical wife ('it is so big') could compare the rides. The two vehicles don't really compare at ll. If I ordered a new, loaded X3 I would be at virtually the same price point as this GT which, our salesman pointed out, is a better value for the money.

That is all it took. We did the deal and I saved at least $15,000 over a brand new one and, since it was considered used, I was given the extra 2 years and 80,000 kilometres (50,000 miles) of warranty that is added for any Certified Pre-Owned BMW, giving me 5 years and 100,000 miles of warranty. I added mud flaps, tinted windows, and ClearShield (a protective thick film that is computer-cut for the GT's front end and mirror fronts). I also took four years Tire and Rim protection since the Run-Flat tires and rims are changed together when one or the other needs to be replaced for any reason.

The other comments about the GT in this thread are all true and it is nice to find some online folks who appreciate it like I do. The vehicle is what it was designed to be. It has enough SUV functionality to make it more than a car and the luxury features to make it a little less than an SUV. Its versatility hits a sweet spot with me. Add that to a wonderful ride and all the neat engineering features that exist 'under the skin' and it has become the only vehicle for me. It is like being pampered every time I drive it.

I and am pleased to be a member of Bimmerfest in general look forward to participating in this thread in particular. Cheers!

Congratulations. Lots of enjoyable miles ahead. I have my GT 11 months now and no problems to report. I get lots of thumbs up for the uniquness of the car. Not many around, but lots of 550/5335 where I live. Most often mistaken for a 7er.

Thanks for the kind words. It is good to know that yours is problem-free. I too get many thumbs-up from those to whom I show the car or give a ride.

There aren't many around here though my dealership has sold six of the executive-driven models so far in the last two months and has two left with about 15,000 and 18,000 miles on them. It seems BMW Canada is disposing of the similarly-equipped 2011 models from their Toronto Head Office and all their regional offices.

Window Tint

i did add window tint to my GT before delivery. It looks good with heavier tint in the rear windows than in the front. Here is a pic so you get some idea:

I'm enjoying the GT. I added tint to the rear windows last week. What do you think?
