Talking WOW!! Dinan Stage1, limiter increased……this S**t is fast now!!

I recently purchased the Dinan stage 1 software package. I now have 495 hp and 573 ft-lb of torque (according to Dinan ) The limiter was increased to 156 mph. Yesterday, I tested my X5 and I can say this is one powerful truck now. For those who don’t know me, I love power and speed.( See the screen name. I have a turbo Hayabusa that makes 307hp. I’ve run that at 205 mph GPS speed) Until tonight, the fastest I have ever driven a vehicle was 150 mph and that was in the LS400. This X5 pulls hard down low and keeps pulling. The speed was still building when I chickened out at 161 mph (actual speed on the HUD). Before, I could hit the 135 limiter with no problem, without being scared, but now, with the 156 limiter, I was scared as hell. Its was only another 26 MPH but it seems so much faster, you are covering ground so fast. This thing was moving, and it was so smooth. The odometer must be off because it was suppose to stop at 156. Or is it possible the limiter was removed completely? When I get enough nerve and space, I will try to hold the heat until the speed stops building to see where it tops out at. The stage 2 is available for the X5, but I thought it was just nominal power gains over the stage 1 as it gives 501hp and 580 ft-lb of torque. That’s only 6hp and 7 ft-lb of torque more than the stage 1 for $500 more. It wasn’t worth it for me.

Definitely a big difference over stock. It seems like they detuned the stock car. The tune is pricey but makes a huge improvement in the fun to drive factor. Stage 2 is supposed to give even better throttle response off the line. And the word is that there is an intake coming soon...

I have the Dinan D900-40M stage 1 tune on my M3.

I like it too.

Picture a 2 lane road with a corn field on one side and a cotton field on the other. A 4 mile straight before the road curves, then another 3 mile straight and so on. Hardly any cops out here, the only thing you really have to worry about is a deer jumping out. Early in the am or late at night, no one is out here. I dont dirve this fast all the time, but if there is no traffic, i'll get on it.

It reads high by 5-6%. According to GPS, when it says 80mph I am only traveling at 75. All BMWs (bikes included) do that. I think C&D tested speedo accuracy a couple of years back, and the Germans had the most optimistic speedos.

Yep, BMW cars speedometer is usually 3 to 5 miles faster than you are actually going.

The CHPpies catch you doing that (and they can -- radios are faster than cars) it will earn you a trip to the pokey for a "reckless driving" beef and a visit to the impound lot to get your car back the next day. Of course if you are an illegal alien you are patted on the head and sent on your way with a ticket and a "have a nice day" from the cops.

You're joking, right? That's not the treatment they receive in most parts of the country.
Perhaps there is more sympathy for them in CA.
