My 2013 X3 took exactly 5 weeks.

I ordered it on May 26th and took delivery on June 29th in Toronto, Canada.

Hi All, new to these forums and to BMW (although my husband has a 3-series wagon). Ordered my X3 on Thursday (2 days ago), just checked the 1-800 # and it's in production, scheduled to be finished on the 21st -- WOW!!

Getting excited....anyone have any idea about transport times from SC to Texas!?

Wow, that is fast! Mine completed production on schedule (July 9th was the scheduled completion date). It took from then to go from being released to a carrier to a port of exit, being on the carrier (or something similar), then finally in transit. I am in New Orleans and it arrived at my dealer yesterday. Unfortunately I'm away for the weekend and can't pick it up until Monday, but I wouldn't expect much longer depending on where else they would have to stop. I'm quite happy with the 3 weeks for mine as I'm sure you'll be happy with the time for yours!

Ordered my car July 11th....just spoke to the dealer, our build slot is week 33....little disappointed as this is about a week long than expected, but it's on the way. Living in Chicago, does anyone care to guess when the vehicle will actually be delivered? We had been planning on a road trip commencing 8/17...I'm a little worried those plans will be dashed. Once built, what is the typical shipment time to Chicago?

Very jealous....not pleased with the lack of transparency so far with the ordering process....I'll hope for the first time ever, BMW speeds things up and we see movement sooner rather than later

I think I still hold the record at 61/2 months from time of order to delivery for my X3 - mind you I live in Canada though.

That takes the cake....but the anticipation in these instant gratification times is brutal and made worse by an oversight by the CA.

Is it worth me checking the BMWUSA site every day to see if there have been any changes...yes I am eager to get the car, but with a week 33 build date, it seems like I will drive myself crazy. Will BMW email me when my status changes? Have any week 30/31/32 people noticed BMW working ahead of schedule?

I never received an email, and the status changed on the phone line before it would change on the website -- about 12 hour lag on the web-site

This week went from in production with a date of completion, to in the paint shop, to complete and waiting on carrier, and now I am at waiting to go to port of exit or something...I'm hoping the next step will be it showing up at the dealer!!

Checking the website is a little useless...calling the automated number is a much more accurate account of what is happening. If you don't have the number, I know I listed it in this thread not too long ago.

And GertieDog, your next steps will be actually having been released to a carrier and being in transit. And you may get a call from your dealer before you call to check and hear that it is there...that is how it happened for me. I called in the morning and it was in transit, by the afternoon my dealer was calling me saying it had arrived! So it shouldn't be long now. It sure is exciting isn't it? And since you are in Houston it looks like, I wouldn't expect it would take much longer to get to you than it did to me.

It's so exciting! I'm out of town until Sat though...I'm guessing it may beat me there -- ah well, I guess my husband can pick me up from the airport in it!

Great news...do you mind me asking what your "production week" was? Are you expecting delivery to be more-or-less in line with what you were promised or are they ( BMW ) exceeding expectations and getting you your car sooner? Thanks in advance...congrats on the new car.

You know, I never found out my production week -- I was told when I ordered (2 weeks ago?) that he had gotten me the last July spot. Production started 2 days later, finished on the date the phone line said it would. When I ordered he had told me that he hoped to have it here by the end of the month, and I guess he delivered!

GertieDog, I was out of town as well when mine came in and had to wait from a Friday until Monday to pick it up...almost killed me while I was at work on Monday, obviously didn't get a thing done while I was there!

grantsi- Have you called the automated line? When you do, at least if yours is in actual production, it gives you an estimated completion date. My estimated completion date was July 9th and was at the dealer on July 13th. So I guess it finished assembly on the 9th and all the transport, etc. took until the 13th. I never knew my production week either. I don't fully understand how that works. As much as I've gathered. Dealers are allotted a certain number of X3's or and model, but they get so many of each model (?) each month? And if they use all the slots up with orders early in the month an order that happens later in the month will be pushed back in production time, and so on? Is that how it works? It was never explained to me and that is the only thing I have put together from what I have read so I might be totally wrong... If I am please let me know how it works. Another reason that I am guessing this may be the way is that mine basically went into immediate production and at my dealership it didn't sound like they were ordering a huge quantity out of there by any means. Anyway, the order was placed on June 21st and arrived on July 13 just as expected by my client advisor, so I would say they were right on time with the production.

Hi, i placed an order about 2 weeks ago, is it abnormal that when I enter my production number on the website it doesn't seem to recognize the number and the phone system still says scheduled for production without an end date? Just seems like a while to be stuck in that phase.

I was told to expect 4 weeks for delivery, i'm just hoping to have it by the weekend of august 11th....

w* You may have the number wrong, because I know that if I ever entered my production number wrong on the phone it would say the same thing. I would first start out by double checking that to make sure that you have the correct number. If you were told to expect 4 weeks, I would suspect you should be able to see some progress by now. Hopefully at the dealership you ordered from they should be able to offer some assistance.

It's here (well, in Houston, I am currently in Chicago...)! Trying to convince my husband to pick it up so I don't have to wait until Monday! Can't wait...

I am slotted for week 33 too and I ordered on July 16. I totally think it is based on your dealer's allocation. Please keep me updated on any status changes with yours and I will do the same.

I ordered 7/5...my number is 3973xxx. I was initially told there was "no way" I would have the car later than the 5th of August, but that date flew out the window when I was given a week 33 production week.

When I grumbled, I was told if I switched from a 35 to 28, I would jump 2 weeks. While I love the little engine, the big one is what I want so I didn't change.

I'm thrilled that I have now found 2 others suffering through the same wait - I am a little puzzeled ( and attribute it to my less-than-punctual dealer ) that I ordered first yet will receive last.

MMLOCKE & DSISYGIRL...what are you getting? I am getting the following:

Alpine White X35i
Beige Leather
M-Sport
Premium
Cold I
Technology
Premium Sound
BMW Apps
