528i performance chip

Hey people im looking at a chip for my car just to fix up my low end torque since i installed a m50 manifold. Now the shark injector wont work for me since i have a euro spec bmw i have 3 options that i can choose from one is a actual chip for the ecu which i have to solder in the second is one that plugs into some existing ports not sure what ones and the third one is a piggy back and i have to splice the wires onto the obd connector. they are all the same price what do you guys think will be the better option ?

Best option is to replace the VANOS seals. From what I've read, this will restore low-end torque. The seals are typially worn out in less than 100K km. Beisansystems.com

The engine is so well optimized from the factory that you will got zero low-end improvement from "chips."

Attempting to hotrod your current car is a lost cause....you`re gonna spend thousands of dollars chasing 10 or 15 RWHP, which in anybody`s book, is a piss-poor investment. Learn to love what ya got, or buy a faster car....

Bosnianwog I'm not writing from experience but I've read over and over on this forum exactly what Fast Bob is trying to state. That the chips are really a waste of time and almost worthless for the little HP you gain. In fact that was one of the first things I was going to do but now I'll reinvest my money on other mods.

Sell the 528 and get a 540. If you are lucky, you might save a few bucks over the trade when comparing to spending the money on software and stuff. I notice my mpg is any worse that the 528, when I drive the 540 normally, as I don't have to step on the gas like I have to do with the 528.

What I`m saying is, in their quest for more power, a lot of people try all the normal "hop-up tricks" that work on Hondas, Mustangs, etc., like chips, CAIs, cat-back exhaust, underdrive pullies, etc. They ** DO ** spend thousands of dollars, and get very little reward for their money.
And, ** 230 HP ** from a basically stock 528 ??? Sorry, but I ain`t buying it. (Unless they measure "Horsepower" quite differently in your neighborhood).
