Base Sound On '12 35i

Have they upgraded base audio on the Z's? My car has the base audio, but it sounds significantly better than our '09 Z, and I'm almost certain I can hear sound coming out of the tweeters on the door, and I'm counting 9 speakers this time around instead 6.

In EU markets are 3 levels of audio, base, business and professional. Our 2012 UK model has the base six speaker system.


Often, US models get Business audio standard. Business audio has 10 speakers: two woofers in the kick panels, two tweeters in the doors and six midranges. The are two midranges in the doors, two in the rear quarters, one center rear and one in the dash. There is also a 250 watt amplifier in the back.

Yah, the 2012 (and I think 2011) US standard sound was upgraded from Base to Business. We now have woofers in the rear, tweeters in the doors and not as high quality speakers as premium overall. We are missing the tweeter in the dash, missing tweeters in the rear and are missing the rear center channel completely.

The sound in my '11 Z4 is substantially better than my '11 335is.
