M sport 3.5i exhaust clip please...

I 'd like to hear the M sport 3.5i - startup, rev, drive by interior etc..

We got an X6 3.5i and it sounds electric! Needs some more bark.

BMW sells essentially the same exhaust as an add on for the X6.

Love to hear some clips and/or feedback. Thanks

Don't know about the X5/X6, but on the 335i you can force the driver's side exhaust to stay open full time. Gives it a much more aggressive sound. Normally that pipe only opens under hard acceleration to keep the exhaust note tamer at idle/cruising speed.

I zip tied the valve open as soon as we got home from the dealer (which only lasted a few hours before breaking).

It went from a 10/10 on the wimpy sound scale to a 8.5 with the valve open

One thing I haven't considered until just now is the fact that exhausts/mufflers "pack in" over the first 500-1000 miles. They get louder.

On a cold startup it sounds like there is jewelry banging around inside the cat for a minute or 2. Then it settles down into its Corrola like hum.

We had a 335xi back in 08' (different engine, but a 3.0 turbo 6 all the same). There was no prob. with that car. It sounded decent.

This car is a Black M pack X6 - it really does need to spit a bit of fire if you know what I mean. Its the incredible hulk of the BMW lineup. It's not a 328.

Someone on another board suggested the noise was the only reason to get the V8. He may be on to something there. I just didn't want to hit the pumps every 3-4 days like with did with our 4.8 X5.

We've had the car since Monday and as of this morning its on a half a tank :thumb up: That makes me happy. The exhaust can be sorted out - (at a cost)

Regards,
DRP

Mein Auto: 2013 X5 35i Premium
There is a post on another forum http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ifference.html

where the owner thinks his X5 M sport sounds much more "throatier" than the regular X5 35i.

Well on my '11 335i M-Sport (n55) with the plug to the vacuum line disconnected, the exhaust sounds louder and pretty wicked. It even makes a backfire popping sound on deceleration. That said, it will never sound like a V8.
