winter driving?

Was wondering what folks experience with winter driving an e89 is. I'd switch out the tires & wheels with a winter package, but I'm wondering if the front would get beat up with sand and salt? Would a bra or those clear protective coatings be sufficient protection, or just leave it in the garage? I've got a Subaru forester for hauling and snowy days, but it's not nearly as much fun...

Mine is going to the garage next weekend. The Michigan weather is just to nasty, and the roads are even worse. Besides the salt, ice, snow and danger for such light to be driven in the winter, there're the roads that crumble and leave a minefield of potholes, stones and chunks of garbage and just too many opened joints to even have a semi comfortable drive with these nice cars.
Last spring, it took me until June until some of the worst road fixes took place, and I could take it out to work!

I will put my Z4 way once salt and sands are spread on the roads. It is hard for not driving a fun car, but I want to keep it away from salt. I used to drive a 2012 X3 28i (6cylinder engine) for winter season. This fall I got a 2015 X3 35i which has a similar engine to the Z4. This seems to be more fun than the X3 28i, but it's not like a Z4 . I always wait for clean roads conditions in the spring for taking my Z4 out. Usually it is around April, when heavy rain washes the salt and sands off the roads.

Thanks for the depressing but good advice. Parked the car Tuesday night before the first snow (*sniff*).

I intend to drive my '15 year around along with my '13 X5. I have had no winter issues so far. This is a leased car. I am MUCH more relaxed about winter's bone.

^^^This is one of many reasons why you should never buy a car off-lease.
