illuminated door sills installed

installed these last night, pretty cool pieces but kind of a pain to install. 45 page instructions but pretty straight forward.

Those look cool, but. My wife had them installed in her Mini and within a couple years spots appear on the backside. The dealer replaced them under warranty. Now in about the same amount of time the spots are back and the warranty has expired.

thanks for the heads up - what do you mean by "spots on the backside"? do they distort the illumination?

Looks very cool, but the install sounds dicey. How long did it take - 45 pages alone would freak me out.

The spots were small roundish random in size and spacing on the backside of the plate. We live in a very wet clmate in Vancouver, WA. Might be a factor.

And no they do not distort the image. Just are a distraction.

probably about an hour and a half, there were several pages that were not actually steps but just visual explanations of what's going on. the good news is it's pretty difficult to screw up, just time consuming.

Where can I get info on this?...it is a commericially available kit?...is there a DIY?...please advise....thanks

takes about 3 weeks for them to produce. the LED color on mine was white, thought anything else would be too aftermarket looking. instructions come with the kit, i can email them to you if you want to look them over. let me know.

Those look great! It's a more "M" oriented version of the factory illuminated door sill retro fit kit, I put a photo of that kit below for comparison.

Looks good.
