if you are not massively anal like these dudes here or you don't have 3 hours a day to spare, you can take it to the bridge hand wash in fort lee. they use lambswool mitts, clean soap, and hoses with no jets. do a heck of a job i think for $16 bux.

I warn you though - using Snowfoam is more expensive because you use more car wash with a foam gun than with a bucket. This is why most commercial car washes don't bother.

How many washes do you get per each can of foam with your method? And you foam it twice, so you actually use twice as much also.

Pukematrix: There is a do it yourself car wash on queens blvd about 5 minutes from 59th st bridge. With power spray I use from time to time. I just keep a bucket with supplies and bring it there. I think it is a BP station.

I'm a big fan of the high-powered leaf blower for drying. It works brilliantly on my Carbon Black 650xi coupe.

I have to do twice weekly washing for the Carbon Black. It's a lot of work, but it's completely worth it.

that's good to know. what about bklyn? anyone have anythign out there? i think i have scoured manhattan and found nothing (besides that dirt and grime factory in spanish harlem. NEVER go there)

You should take a look at Optimum No Rinse. You can wash your car in the garage from a bucket. It works surprisingly well.

Search Youtube and you can find videos showing how to use it.

My buddy also goes to this do it yourself joint in Bergen county need to get that info from him. Though the thought of storing buckets and other such gear in our apartment isn't appealing

not optimal. i think bridge hand wash is very good alternative for sure though.

BTW, what do my fellow north easterners do for car washing in the winter time?

Brush-less (nothing touches car) car washes as needed and ONR waterless wash in the garage in between.

I read that the brushless car washes use harsher chemicals since there are no brushes, and it eats the paint and the protective layer. Is that true?

LOL so true - I do find washing a car therapeutic in a sense - at least you see the fruits of your labor.

45th and west side highway don't go through the car wash pull p and pay for a real hand wash and detail!

Brushless car wash, but if there is a thick layer of salt covering the car, I go to one of those do-it-yourself places, but don't use the brush. Just use the hose to wash it off

Be careful with the brushless car wash. The tire guides put a small gouge in my drivers side front wheel the one and only time I took my new 535i to one. I didn't see it till I came home and it was too late to prove the car wash tire guide was the culprit.

I was joking at the start of this thread about using a brillo pad to clean the car, but look someone was actually stupid enough to do it, and a detailer was able to paint correct the damage.
