Still getting p340 after oem intake camshaft position sensor

Been to the local euro car part shop and bought a oem intake camshaft position sensor made by feb bilstein for 55 pounds, correct for my engine as i got them to check aswell.

Fitted it and been driving around to see what happends and i still pull the pending p340 fault code, i dont know what to do next as thats the only code i am getting. The power is just not there untill the higher rpm range.

Please can anyone point me in the right direction??

I have tested my alternator to see if that could be causing problems but it is working and charging the battery.

I know my battery is not the best as i had the radio on without the engine running and it discharged and it needed to be jump started.

Could this possibly have something to do with the p340 code?? But there is plenty of power when running with heaters, headlights and window demister on.

Help!!

Must be an electrical problem with the intake cam position sensor.

Bought a oem sensor brand new, so must not be the actual sensor

quote from another thread:

You could have a stuck or sticking VANOS solenoid or a VANOS problem too, they can cause the symtoms you mention and can also cause erroneous cam position sensor codes?????

Problem solved, always like to explain when something is solved for other ppl with the same issue.

Got a friend with a snap on diagnostic tool. And got the bmw code 18, which is *exhaust* camshaft sensor and not intake

so went ahead a replaced it with a spare i had and away went the code

so a p340 code can mean any side if anybody has the problem ive had

Hooray for those that post follow up information. I wonder if the PO340 is the same as the carsoft 65 code? Maybe if my light comes on I will just use my pocket code reader instead of the carsoft and my laptop?
