In Sports mode does it go to 8 th gear.. I was in a impression you have to manually push to 8 th gear in Sports or D/S mode

No, what happens -as most likely you know, but some other readers may not- is that in Sport mode (DS) the transmission will only go up to 7th gear, not to 8th. That's why I'm seeing S1 to S7.

@Alex_c; Actually, I was not aware of that, but now that I think about it, the fact that DS operates in one gear below D, it makes perfect sense that it would max out in S7.

Dream - I enabled everything I could possibly find that referenced SPEED, SPEEDLIMIT, SPEED_LIMIT, etc. If it's anything like my previous VW's, the camera module itself might need to be made aware that it should be looking for this function, or outputting the data to the car's bus for other modules to pick up. Since LDWS, AHBS, and SLIS all use the same camera, I imagine that the wiring is already there. When I retrofitted Lane Assist to my VW CC I had to run new wires, but the module in the mirror was the actual ECU - nothing else required. I suspect it's the same here. Given it's a $100 option, I can't imagine much else is needed.

Mobileum - I will try this later. I saw it (searching for Drehmoment) but I don't recall enabling it.

If we can make Speed Info Work then that will be a major break through!

If its is the way you are saying it is then we are just one step away from getting this happen!

Mobileum - turns out I did. No luck. I need to figure out which module is the LDWS system. Shawn - any ideas?

Dream - we'll see. I am fairly certain I can get this to work, as long as the software is configured to recognize US speed limit signs.

I'm not sure about this. It may require the extra space.

@wdimagineer; The LDWS and SLIS systems share one ECU, P/N 66519259021, and it is usually referred to as the SWW ECU. I am not sure though which ECU is for the AHBS, but it is generally referred to as the FLA ECU, so it would be a different ECU.

As for possibly making SLIS work, for any functionality that has an Option Code, the Vehicle Order (VO or "FA" in German) must be changed to have the Option added to the car before any coding / enabling will work. Since the Speed Limit Info is an Option, the Option SA8TH, must be added to the VO.

Unfortunately, since I do not have LDWS, hence no SWW ECU, I can not test this.

@DreamCar; Please add the attached "E-Sys - Getting Started Supplement - Part 3" to Post #1, which details changing the VO.

@Needsdecaf; SLIS displays in both the standard Instrument Panel and the HUD.

Thanks, Shawn. I'm familiar with modifying the FA. Adding S8ATH would work? Most of the option codes are 3 characters, so just want to confirm.

@wdimagine; Drop the SA Prefix, and the Option is just 8TH.

By the time our cars are released we already have the speed limit info in USA. So it gives me a feeling if it is activated it should be able to read the signs.

It should. It's all software, after all. Shawn's mentioning that the ECU is the same gives me hope. I remember my VW couldn't do the speed limit display, due to an older ECU. It's been available on the F10 in ROW for a while, so it might work.

Ok so by the time I go back home today I will be able to see speed limit in my HUD

@wdimagineer; I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, however, it's not all software, The hardware matters, and there have been 5 version's of that ECU as follows:

66519225604 - Ended 03/2010
66519231399 - Ended 09/2010
66519240222 - Ended 03/2011
66519252819 - Ended 09/2011
66519259021

If a car has one older than the current 66519259021, it is quite possible it will not support SLIS.

Shawn I think WD bought his car around december or so he should have the latest ECU

My car is produced 10/2010, and I have SLIS. But I do not know the ECU nmbr.

My car was a late January 2012 build, so it should be the latest module.

I'm also suspecting that there's an option code on the 528 and 535 for the power/torque display to function. Anybody with these models care to share their FA info?

@Dreamcar, I am not so much worried about WD's car, or any 2012 car, but for others reading this thread with early 2011 builds, it could very well be a problem.

Now, based on Mobileum's car, we can infer that he has ECU 66519240222 so from there forward should be all right. ECU's 66519231399 and 66519225604 are still unknown.

Shawn's insight is probably the key to figuring out a lot of this stuff. If the car is looking for option codes, various things must need to be there in order for certain functions to work. I imagine the M Tacho/HUD stuff might be found in this as well. Just need to find the right option code to add or VIN information.

I will try the speed limit info stuff in a bit.
