By the way, when you go to DS mode in your car, do you see the different gears displayed on the dashboard as they change? I just want to make sure this was not a default behavior and in fact it was changed when I coded the car...

alex - mine has always shown S1-S7. I don't think it is as a result of coding.

Mine just shows DS.

I was almost sure it used to display simply DS but would not change, unless I used the paddles or the shifter to change gears, then it would go into M1 to M8...

Mine (11/2010 build) has always shown it. BUT, it only shows it when you pop the gear shifter to the left. It does not show it if you go into sport mode via the rocker. This is something that it would be nice to find a flag for.

Same here with 04/2011 build. S1-S7 if Shift Lever is to the left. I never use sport mode except for the chassis. I will try it tonight.
And I have HUD with extended gauge display, if that matters.

Also OBD-II plug was delivered at home today.. So hope to be coding by the weekend.

"KOMBI--3003 FZG_Ausstattung--SPA_ENABLE" and "KOMBI--3000 Anzeige Konfiguration--SPA_SPORT_ENABLE" doesnt do any thing?! I thought i was getting S1-S7 because of KOMBI--3003 FZG_Ausstattung--SPA_ENABLE... I never used D/S mode before so i am not sure if it is default.

Well, all I have is M1-M8, and I have SPA_ENABLE set, so I will test it tonight with SPA_SPORT_ENABLE set as well, and see if I get anything different. What is odd is I checked both the 2011 and 2012 F10 Owner's Manual's and there is no mention of S1 through S7; however, it is in the 2010 E89 Z4 Owner's Manual, which at least tells me it should not be unique 2012 feature, nor is the Extended Instrument Panel a requirement.

I don't know if this would be related or not. When in DS mode, many BMW's eliminate the top gear. In other words, the system will not automatically select the highest gear in DS mode. This varies from car to car though. In manual mode you can select all gears.

Might that be the reason you are seeing just 7 (instead of 8)?

One of the things we missed is the TPMS... In US it shows just colors but in other countries i think it shows actual reading!...

I will see if we can code that too!

Well, here in Canada we only have the FTM (Flat Tire Monitor) which doesn't use the sensors but monitors the rotation of the tires. No pressure values are available under that system.

I thought in canada the system displayed the actual reading ! no?

Same in EU. Only tire rotation.

Nope! Even my wifes 2004 Murano does but not the bimmer.

This is the target... Need to search that phrase below and make it aktiv and yeah we have to change te units to PSI

Damn, I can't wait until I'm back and have time to get at this stuff...hopefully early next week.

Not necessarily, dream... I do not believe TPMS is standard in Europe. Same as in Canada. So if it's optional, that explains the price. Our cars can probably do this. I'm going to try in a few minutes.

First, this is my first post, but I am a close follower of this blog. What you guys are doing is fantastic work and incredibly useful to all of us. I for one am very grateful.

While I am still waiting to build my own cable, I would like to add some information about the tire pressure system. My car (a 550i built in 7/2011) has the after mentioned option. It is listed as:

S2VBA REIFEN DRUCK CONTROL Tyre pressure control (TPC).

I am pretty sure yours also has that option, so it might still be possible to get actual readings on the iDrive instead of just colors. Do not despair.

@ Jeg23: Just a little correction. I think the code is SA2VB. SA stands for Sonderausstattung (Special Accessories?). Drop the SA to get the correct code

I think that as soon as I learn to code (very shortly) this is going to be like crack.

I am having flashbacks to when I had a Droid and I was constantly patrolling the Android forums looking for the latest ROM to flash to my phone. It's actually one of the reasons I didn't mind going to an iPhone...limited and therefore removing temptation!!!

So excited for some of this!!!
