just an update - I was getting ~17MPG on my 2012 X3, when I decided to reset my cons. on board info reading.
After I reset it - it started freaking out and going up to 26 mpg or so, and then shot down to literally 8 mpg. I restarted the car, then restarted the cons. And now it is totally on target with the advertised results. I'm getting about 20 in city driving. I am very happy. |

Cap'n, Berger getting 4.9 0-60 times out of that little 4 banger is amazing! Why would you want to get a 35i when you get a faster, less expensive, and more economical car with the N20.

I'm getting 22 overall. I set the trip meter on a weekend road trip (about 200 miles) and it calculated the trip at 29.5!
I turn off the auto/start all the time. I can't stand it. I wish I could disable it. The button should have memory like the auto windshield wipers and when you turn it off it stays off! |

What does the 35i do with a stage 1 tune?

Would be interesting to find out!
I am sure the Berger or Dinan have a kit already for that engine -- since it is also used elsewhere. Slightly OT, the new 528 with the 4 banger and a tune kit would be an interesting sleeper methinks. |

Driving like granny home from dealer the N20 got 32 mpg over 90 miles with AC (100 degrees in OK). Later I drove to work 25 miles at about 65 in the am and registered 33 mpg. Drove it hard home in the heat of the day and down to 25 mpg over 25 miles. First tank was 29 mpg in mostly expressway driving. I have no real city driving to quote.
My guess is that once broken in and with no ethanol, I could get 35 mpg on a "granny trip" and likely 30 mpg on any trip or general expressway commute. Pretty good. I get slightly better with my retiring 2011 535i but not much better. Of course the sedan is a smooth ride. |

Have had my 2013 28i for about a month. I am getting about 24 - 25 mpg (average) and I have approx 2700 miles on it. Using comfort mode with combo of city highway driving - fortunately for me (and unfortunately for the gas mileage) highway driving is the Autobahn and I usually drive about 80 - 85 mph so my "average" may be ia bit low. The 4 cyl turbo has plenty of power with the 8 speed auto. I love that combo.

I have a 2013 35i. Mixed driving with minimal Eco mode I am getting approx 350-400 miles per fill so around 21-24 miles per gallon. Mileage seems to be gradually improving after first 2000 miles.

Not getting great mileage on a 2013 x3 28i
Wondering if anyone else has experienced this, but judging from the posts here, not many have. When I first got the car (driving mostly NOT in eco mode, mixed highway and city driving) it was getting (seriously!) 10 MPG. I was sure the trip computer was off, but fill up to fill up showed the same result. After about 950 miles, it's now getting about 17 MPG in mixed city/highway--not stop and go, just regular city driving. The dealer insists that this new engine requires 5000 miles to break in, and "everyone" is experiencing the same thing but I highly doubt that. True, the mileage is improving but.... and btw, no I don't have a lead foot, rabbit starts, etc.
So wondering if anyone else is getting such poor mileage. Thanks! |

With my 2012 35i I've averaged a respectable 22MPG over 3000 miles of mixed driving and mileage has improved from roughly 325-350 miles per fill to 375-400. Can't complain especially given I like to use sport modes and all 300 ponies.

I have ~ 1100 miles on my 28i - lifetime average is ~23.5 mpg according to the computer. I can say that the first tank average was something like 17 or 18 doing mostly highway. So has been improving since then. My driving is probably 2/3 highway 1/3 city. Assuming i'm not yet fully broken in - which I've read takes anywhere from 1500-7000 miles i could easily imagine getting the 28 or 29mpg it's rated for on the highway.
Sidenote - maybe i'm wrong here, but it seems like I get better mileage going 70-75mph than when I'm going 50ish. I was driving in heavy but steady traffic going 50mph for a while, maybe 45 minutes? And was only getting in the low 20's for most of that time. When I'm going 75mph or so the realtime gauge on the dash tells me I'm consistently in the high 20's/ low 30's. Could that be a result of the transmission? Last edited by w*; 08-29-2012 at 06:23 AM. |

George, forgive my ignorance of our friends to the North -- but do you folks up there use the imperial gallon (larger) or the one we use down here? If you are clocking 32 mpg on regular trips that is outstanding IMHO!

We use litres in Canada and drive the 2013 2.8 model. I averaged 9.8 litres per 100km of mixed driving after 7,000 km. This amount is 9% above the stated average, which is reasonable.
Mostly Comfort mode and highway driving, with the occasional switch to Sport or Eco. Very happy with the vehicle and the results. |

Thanks for the conversion on the combined mileage! I am within the stated driving range.

No problem. I drive in both countries, and have friends in both. I'm too easily confused to do the conversion in my head. There are a number of websites that do the LPG to MPG conversion, and vice versa.
Next problem - best route from Boston to Mont Tremblant... No worries, I have Nav LOL! |

About 35 US MPG highway only at 70 mph, per trip computer on a recent all highway trip. not too shabby.

We picked our up 3 weeks ago ... first long trip this week ... 250 miles highway / local ... 30 MPG using EcoPro on the highway 65-70MPH ... very pleased. This is a Florida car ... flat lands with very few hills.
