What a headache!

Just a little backround to start off with...

2003 745LI
Looks to have had prior water damage...

Lights that are on.... Airbag/seatbelt
Dynamic drive inactive

Symptoms..... Idrive only responds when lollipop is unplugged.
no sound or navigation (including PDC)
no radio wave signals, CD and CDC greyed out
Nav unit will not take disc (still sounds like its trying to read a disc)
occasional pop/crackle from speakers
CD player sometimes doesn't eject disc

Fuses have all been checked, I have looked over countless threads... I know there is some module in the LOOP that isnt responding, my question is.... any one of the symptoms a dead give away? I even took it to the dealership and the response was to just start with replacing each one ( of course they said the NAV module first) im not convinced its that though (even though the module wont take disc it still has power and sounds like its trying to work)... Im thinking the ASk unit? the telephone is sticking and sometimes the disc wont eject.... Anyway i do have the poping and static sound so i guess it could also be the logic 7 amp although i only hear it in the front and from what i have read its the ask unit that controls them...

and....

I dont even know where to start with the Dynamic, i have checked all the fluids. i dont get a clunk when turning sharply... the car doesn't seem to have excessive body roll either.

seatbeat/airbag light.... due to the water damage i believe something has been corroded, if you were to look down in-between the seats there are alot of corroded/white parts around the seat belts at the bottom... not sure if that would cause the lights or not. (my least concern)

Anyways.. hoping that someone actually read threw my post, i am posting what the dealer has told me... maybe this will help with actual answers..





This is the last straw, If i cant figure these issues out im going to sell her. 2003 745LI Comfort and lux, l7 , seating package. 60k miles!

The car also has the clunking/lunge when coming to a stop or shifting from park to reverse..... :/ I seem the have bought a 7 that has all the infamous problems...

Im sure these threads are just ignored by now... SO ill just turn this into a NEW MEMBER thread. I love this car so far just need to get these problems figured out.... I found a ASK unit at a junk yard for 200 im going to start with that.

its a really nice ride bro, is it green? never seen one. yeah i would handle the problems one at a time. and find yourself a reputable indy that will be able to help you out with all of that. and be patient w/ our members I'm sure as soon as they see this, people that know the situation will reply to ur post, were good at that. i assume that you went to the dealer, coz the action plan looks familiar..lol i got one just like that but not w/ a subtotal of over 10,000 dollars. heres the thing though looks like they are charging you every time you tell them what you think is wrong with your car 61 bucks every diagnose. dang!! that is some stealership

Hi, you are right with the diagnosis of the most bus, a unit has failed which is why much of the idrive options are greyed out. The nav unit does sound the most likely. Mine would not read discs and every minute or so it would reset causing popping of the audio. Sounds like a unit is completely dead. I would go round each one and check for red light emitting from each most bus plug in turn. When you find a plug with no light it is likely the unit before is faulty.

It sounds as if the ASK could also be playing up. And could be causing issues too.

There are a number of modules residing under the seats and lower door pillars, these are part of the airbag system, I think there are about ten modules in total. Depending on how severe the water damage was could mean a number of units faulty.

If I were you I'd get a diagnostic lead and install the INPA software and start pulling codes yourself to try and diagnose the problems. Like said above, the dealer charges a lot for diagnosis of modules.

Airbag modules need to be coded to the car and in some cases programmed too. Beware some airbag modules have other functions, the SBSR module in the door pillar also controls the fuel pump!

First things first start looping modules out in the most bus one at a time.

You can buy a loop at the dealer there is one in the glovebox for diagnostics.

how much did u pay for a flooded 7?

i think this is one of the WORST cars you can buy when its been flooded... there are so many modules in this car. just OMG!
