Alignment woes

Got my car aligned today and the service man told me that my left tie rod is totally seized. The replacement isn't much but still.. Is this a common problem?

The photo is of the car before the alignment lol

Depending on the quality of the part, the amount of road salt used in your area, road conditions, tire size, etc etc, 50-100k miles. Depends on what you mean by seized, I am assuming you are talking about the adjustment threads, if so you should be able to fix that with some work and lube, for free. The joint at the other end is the part that gets loose when it wears out.

My tie rods are ready for replacement becuse the ends are loose and one boot torn. The car has never lived where the roads were salted and I know the adjustment end would turn if I needed an alignment.

I think I would just replace them both, as you mention, they are cheap. I am doing both of mine next week when I do tires and alignment.

He should have told you that before hand not after, you just wasted money on alignment that will re-align it self in a few weeks or when you replace the part.
