Rear fog light in trunk lid

Hi guys, I replaced my rear fog light assembly in my E65 735i with a new unit from BMW but I am still getting the error that there is a fault with it. I had to replace it as the bulb holder assembly wires gave way. Can I clear this and make the light work or does it need to be coded to the car?

You're lucky you have one to replace; the nanny state we live in won't let us have them.
