Those needles seem to be synthetic on the screen, correct? They look quite real

I think my favorite updates are the "Snowflake" button becoming the "A/C" button and the "CD" button on the iDrive controller becoming the "Media" button.

I think I'll contact EAS and see if I can buy updated iDrive and HVAC controllers to make mine look new.

LOLZ.

I'm glad that BMW is taking an active position and updating their NAV according. New model came out in '10 and they're already pushing out a new edition.

But this also means that MY11 and MY12 F10s will take, yet another, hit to resale

BMW does these types of midcycle updates all the time. I'm glad they do it, their cars stay fresher than the competition that way.

Other that folks like us in the forums, I would think that 99% of the people would not know the difference between a pre-september 2011, a post-september 2011, a 2012 or even a 2013. Their thoughts: Wow, I don't know why this one is less expensive, it looks just like the 2013!

Good for us if we lease/buy another 5 before the new chassis comes out in 5 or 6 years!

They need to as they've been losing customers because the navigation has routed them to their deaths in the Atlantic, when all they wanted to do was get to the new bestbuy.

It looks like the new BMW navi is using a pretty powerful graphic card. They must be getting ready for the Google map integration. I wonder if BMW will follow Audi in using Google street view as well.

Alright since nobody else seems willing, I'll ask about the 800# gorilla in the room. Will the new nav be available as a retrofit?

Any answer is speculation, but I predict that it will be available through after market people like Bimmertech, and it will cost several thousand dollars.

Some will retrofit, the smart people will keep their wallets closed and upgrade the car if they need to, because any money you put into retrofit is pure depreciation.

Pretty much what was expected. So will continue plan B for the piece work and get a mobotron to fit and use MS Streets and Trips for those multi-stop days. What a crap shoot having to use third party SW and equipment to get a job done correctly in this nice of a car.
So once again paying a second time for something not wanted but was forced into because package had mandatory items to keep "She who must be obeyed" happy, i.e. bun wamer, contour seats, etc. Sigh.

Probably will. The CIC retrofit runs around $2-2.5k on the E70 (from the older iDrive), so budget accordingly. We don't know if this new iDrive has a higher res screen. If it does, more $$$

Anyways, back on topic, I wonder if BMW will dump the stupid iPhone/smartphone dock in the center console with this iDrive update. Plenty of other makers have app integration over BT or through the regular white sync cable. Why must BMW charge $200 for the stupid dock?
