Question What color should I paint my calipers?

So I going to paint my calipers this week and I'd like to get some opinions [I'm not a huge fan of plain steel color].
I've been wanting to do this for a while and it seems like a pretty easy DIY. (I'll prob post a write up after I'm done)

Let me know what you think either in the poll or in comments!

Thanks

(btw I am leaning toward a gloss black)

On you car blue wouldnt make sense. Prob not even on my car lol.

I think red is for real sports cars like vettes and porsches.

When i do mine im doing the rotor hats black to make them disappear and the calips silver. They look nice silver but dont scream hey look at me.

I did mine red for a while but didn't like them.
I then powder coated them Blue which I really like, got plenty of positive comments on them all the time.
I've done some M5 calipers black too, with a silver car I like blue better.

Do you guys have any tips for the painting process? [I'm going off this DIY]
I kinda dont want to take the calipers completely off, but if that's the easiest way....

I highly recommend getting a G2 caliper paint kit. It includes brake cleaner and paint. It hardens into a nice glossy finish.

I've used duplicolor caliper paint as well... Not bad but i preferred to spray into a red Solo cup and apply to the caliper with a foam brush.

Either way.... Clean VERY thoroughly before painting!

I painted the hats & caliper black. The pic doesn't show very well.

I used the Dupli-color silver and sprayed it on. I just masked everything off. I didn't get too worried about the rotor surface as it gets scraped off on the first brake application. I also clear coated the inside of the rims to keep the brake dust off. I got them really hot on Hiway 36 in California last summer and no issues.

Prep is the key to any good paint or powder coat job.
Before you unbolt the caliper (so you can remove the pads to do a better job cleaning them) get some brake cleaner spray (a few cans) and a small stiff wire brush to get off all of the baked on pad dust. You can leave the brake line connected, just mask off everything with some newspaper before you spray the calipers. Remove the rattle clip to paint it.
Use a coat hanger to hang the caliper from one of the spring coils.

BruceSEA, your sliver job looks nice.

This is the DIY I was going to follow:http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/17839. Still need to paint my calipers, probably silver.

I sprayed my rotors, shocks, calipers, and pads black. I took the caliper off, and the pads out (my pads had green backing that was visible) and sprayed those black. I taped the surface of the rotor off and then sprayed the center and edges black. I wanted everything to "disappear" -that's why I went with black.

Problem is, the stock calipers are so puny & emaciated-looking, there`s really nothing to show off....which is why, IMHO, black is the only way to fly....might as well keep `em as low-key as possible.

I say black that way they’re always clean
They're barely noticeable too, which I prefer

I like silver, a BMW logo - positioned correctly; would look great as well I think. Can you get decals which will last?

If you have an open wheel design (M66 and 37's) they will show.
Glad not many like blue, I like my car to have some unique characteristics.
