Just Installed Quad Pipes - Photos

I debated for several weeks whether to do the quad pipe mod. I looked at every photo that alex_c (Alex) and 5seriesHB (Rob) posted numerous times. I had some concern while looking at some of the photos that the pipes protruded too far. When MCMB (Paul) bought a set of black chrome quad tips for his 550 and they won't work, I contacted him and he sold them to me for more (way more) than a fair price. I spoke with Rob on the phone and exchanged emails with him and Alex about the mod. Thanks to them it was an easy mod.

I found a local muffler shop that had great reviews and had them installed this morning. The photos don't do them justice. They fit well with the M-Sport package. IMHO, they do not stick out too far and look correct for the car.

Thanks to Rob, Alex and Paul…..

Did you have to switch out the black m bumper to the 550 one? Or did you dremel the 535 one to make the quads fit?

I switched out to the 550 diffuser. It was $94.82 delivered from www.GetBMWParts.com.

Nice job. They look great. Did Paul buy the tips from cyba? I ordered a set of double layer black chrome quads with the angle cuts last week from cyba. Just waiting for it to clear customs so I can get them installed asap.

They look great

Just yesterday I was agonizing over how and whether to put quad tips on my 550. It really complicates matters that they put the dual-mode exhaust on the 550.

Why is it complicated? I would have thought the 550 would be easier to go quad. It already has four exhausts tips, all one needs to do is cut-off the shroud and fit four individual tips. As for the vacuum valve, I believe it can propped open permanently or just plain removed.

Didn't know the F10 has a dual mode exhaust. How is it controlled? via the sport/sport+ controls?

Anyone have a sound clip of the two different modes? Would love to hear the difference.

Sorry, no sound clips. The 550's stock (& Dinan) exhaust system has a vacuum controlled that opens while under acceleration. When cruising, the vacuum valve is closed to allow for quieter cruising.

Congrats! Those black chrome tips look great!

I guess most people don't realize how much nicer it looks in real life vs pics once you upgrade the exhaust to quads.

Looks great! Exactly what I have planned for my 535 too!

What finish was the 550 rear diffuser new? Primer or painted?

It came painted. Not sure if it is paint or molded colored plastic. Anyway, it came in the same color as our 535. One muffler shop was going to charge me $100 to modify my 535 diffuser. For $95 I got a 550 one that has the right look.

Thanks for the quick reply! Just what I wanted to hear too . I'm on the fence about the M5 rear diffuser, and with the 550 one at that price, I will go ahead with that first and not worry about it. Thanks again

The guy that did mine (Tim at Competition Muffler in Thousand Oaks) was a perfectionist. He had a level, made sleeves for them, tacked them on and lowered the car to make sure they matched and looked correct before he made the final welds. He was also very conscience about how far they protruded. I would recommend that anyone considering this mod shop for a good shop.

Hell have to live with having only 500hp as a result of these tips not fitting his 550

We feel so bad for you paul...lol

Those look VERY good...clean and definitely not mistakable for being an M5 poser. I like it; I just might end up doing this after all!

Not to talk u out of it, but its a production and it costs a bit of $$ not to be 100% happy

Your car looks killer the way it is ...njoy it partner!
