Rear window air vent?

I noticed on most of the BMW, there is an air vent in the rear window, almost looks like the defrost vent in the windshield. How do I turn the rear air vent on?

You don't. It's cabin venting.

Cabin vent meaning to make it easier to close the doors and not build pressure?

Ahh, an air return vent. It seems to me every car must have one of these, its just that BMW makes their a little bigger and more visuble.
