Hi there. Out of the blue this evening, my 2011 5 Series Touring boot has developed a problem. I got back to the car, unlocked it, but couldn't open the boot on the manual button on the boot itself. The 'hatch' (rear window) is operating just fine.
I don't have comfort access (if that's relevant). Whilst fiddling around when I got the car home, I did get the boot to open a couple of times, so whatever fault there is, it seems to be intermittent , & I think that the openings were fairly random, & not necessarily due to anything specific I was doing.Has anyone encountered this issue ? Any top tips ? |

A quick update on this:
After fiddling around with everything on the car last night, & not getting anywhere, & scouring the Internet but not finding anything, the plot thickened this morning. I unlocked the car ready to head to work, & the boot lid unlocked (I could tell this as the boot cover automatically lifted), then a few seconds later, it locked itself again. What the hell ???? |

Afterthought:
In the short term, is there any other way of opening the boot when this happens, or am i stuck with a locked boot ? |

Sorry no one replied....mostly a US site and we don't get the Touring over here!
![]() I was going to say by your description it sounded like a short in one of the switches. Hopefully it is properly sorted by now.
