Question about replacing gaskets

Can anyone give me an estimate on how much it should cost to replace an oil filter housing gasket and a valve cover gasket?

I am out of warranty and I'm curious if I should leave it to the BMW dealership to fix/replace or find an independent mechanic to do the job.

Thanks in advance

Both jobs require some work. I did them on my 645. They were very time consuming. The dealer is going to rape you. Find an independent shop that knows BMWs to do the job! I believe BMW quoted me $1K for one valve cover. I'm sure the oil pan would be much more to change.

Agree with the advice above.

My guess is the 'oil filter housing gasket will be super easy, but the valve covers a PITA.

Find a good indy, get recommendations... it may take some work but in the long run worth finding a good shop for you car....
Keep it as simple as possible...but no simpler.
