Gauge cluster glitch.
I have never owned a BMW before, ive owned many vw's and audi's. So any help is much appreciated.
I was driving home today and i noticed my gauges drop down and then come right back up to normal, also while driving my inspection light came on. It seams like a computer glitch of some kind. Any thoughts? Also it was a hot day 100 degrees. the car is 1998 m3 coupe |

I guess the only thing you can do is remove the cluster and check the harnesses in the back are secured...other than that, if it was a unique occurrence, it's probably a glitch...

It is a cold solder crack inside the cluster and almost impossible to fix. You have to disassemble the cluster and look for the crack, reflow the solder and that will solve the issue but it is a hell of a job...
