528e Electrical gremlins

I had a whole mess of electrical gremlins which were eradicated when the main ground clusters were renewed - new connectors/fresh wires, etc. All the gremlins are gone, except for one - when I turn the left signal, more often than not I get a buzzing sound and no turn signal action. Sometimes, as I travel to the touch-and-hold left signal it'll start buzzing as I start the stroke. Sometimes I'll get to full left turn, it holds, the signal is blinking and before I finish the left turn the buzzing starts up. We replaced the turn signal relay..... but this one head scratcher remains. Thanks for all your help...

Maybe you need a new turn signal switch? The previous owner of my car had to replace it. Also the bulb holders in the tailight assemblies are known to suffer from contact area corrosion. Try changing to new bulbs and clean up the electrical contact areas as needed. Also make sure the plugs to the assemblies are corrosion free and making good contact.

Good point about cleaning up the turn-light bulb sockets and the bulbs themselves. It's all about ground and impedance, in most cases - isn't it?

Thanks for the tips,

Vladimir

Corrosion is the E28's biggest enemy.

I believe you, but why do you say that corrosion is the E28's enemy?
The simple crimping of wires exposed to the elements as in the turn signal sockets
and others I have seen did have me scratching my head - a tad skimpy, I thought.
