Plan on $800 at a dealer, maybe $600 at an indy. Last time I checked, the fan alone was about $400. Bumper has to be removed to gain access to it.

I just have mine replaced last week. The radiator and the pipe were replaced as well due to overheat. The indy charged me about $1000.

Dealer will take 1K +part. I've got estimated for 1650$.
Ok, I bought AUX fan online for $357 , replaced in two days.
I don't have much time, spent about 4 hours a day, so, 8 total.
The worst part in a process- remove an install fan, it goes thru the buttom, that took most time.
It should be a guide on forum w/steps and picture. It saved me 1K+.
PS. Sorry for my english.

Like you im in Louisiana and going through the same exact problem and replacement/repairs on this. I was wondering how hard it would be to replace this fan myself like you did. As you know when you pop the hood it appears to be accessible through the very front but does the fan connect through the backside closest to engine. Could really use some advice on this so thanks alot in advance

I can let you know about fitment this weekend, because I just ordered one. Hoping it gets here by Friday, and I can do it Saturday. Gonna be a big weekend for the X: Aux fan, oil housing gasket, new belts, new plugs, and valve cover gasket. Gonna be a swell weekend.

If you replace the belts, you should do those pulleys also. Get the Vanos seals done too while you are at it.

Which pulleys - the idler and tensioners. Or all of them? How do know if they're bad? They seemed ok when I was in there last weekend.

Figment on the $200 fan is the same as the original.

It took about 45 minutes to take apart the bumper and unbolt the fan. Took maybe 20 minutes to get the old fan out through the bottom, and about 30-40 to put the new one in. About 25 minutes to bolt it in and put the bumper back in. So maybe 2.5 hours total. But, while I had the bumper off, I spent about 45 minutes repairing a dent in my left front 1/4 panel, where someone hit me in a parking deck. I was backed in, and they hit me right by the turn signal, so I pushed that dent out while I had access to it.

I checked, and the 2 fans were exactly the same size.

I ended up taking a razor knife and shaving a little off the top right front of the fan housing, to make it easier to get it in. Once the corner was in, the whole thing slid in ok. It was about 5 mm too wide, which was a real pita. So I sort of tapered some shavings on the corner, to get it started so it would slide in easier.

Hope that makes sense.

New fan works fine, and was under $200 (I paid 180 on eBay). Hopefully that replacement fan lasts awhile, but for now at least, it seems to work just fine.

For the past few months, I've been wondering where this auxiliary fan is located and unable to locate it... definitely NOT in front of the radiator, like '03 and older... Can someone tell me where this AUX fan is located on '04 ~ '06 yr models??? I'd really appreciate!!!

It is right between the bumper and the radiator. It is the black fan right up front.
