I used to travel to DC regularly, and the Willard was always a nice option. Location can be an issue, so it was particularly convenient when I had meetings on Pennsylvania Ave east of the WH. (Lots of law firms in the area.)
We stayed there when our son was looking at colleges (many years ago now), and Congress had just adjourned. They upgraded us to a suite that was very nice.

When I was traveling to DC weekly a few years ago, I enjoyed the Robin Bar to meet friends for drinks. It could get crowded but it was a unique experience.
Cheers
