I wasn't being serious...I was being ironic...the car cost $50k new...

I am sure you could find a way to make it work, but I wouldn't as the car doesn't have a strong enough drive train for real off roading. I would take the $4 or $5k this might cost to do right and get a beater jeep/Cherokee from the mid 90s. Those are so much fun....plus you have proper 4lo for mud and trail crawling.

True....then I thought about one of my kids taking me seriously.......

If you must ...get an old 200 jeep cherokee (one of the jeeps I had that worked well). At most with an X3 I would get a brush guard and skid plate just for the concrete jungle.
