x5 keys turn butdont open door?

Hi, bought used x5 se d 2005,good. Bad,the 2 keys turn both ways in lock but dont open door. Luckily 1 fob works so can get in and drive! why would the manual keys just not work as any key should for the door but start the engine fine? Worried the battery in fob goes ,then really wont get in?

I phoned some gararges and as the keys work in the ignition fine, its the lock part, but which one,so they may have replace door look or it may be the ,thing, that pops out thats jammed! got a FREE BMW inspection booked tomorrow, normally 100 to just look at it,and go from there. IF the other fob charges well today, I have time to save for whatever! lock,s 308!!!! at dealership.. Thanks for answer.

Are these expensive? I have no idea what that is and how to do it! Not being sexist to myself! but I'm a normal female and top up coolant, oil etc but no more. The garages said all this sort of stuff but were worried about the BMW factor and 'can of worms' problem!!! Would a good local garage do,as would order in,whereas dealership would sort it and be gauranteed?

https://www.google.com/#safe=strict&...k+repair+kit&*
that kit cost(s) less than 10 bucks
i got one off of ebay for 5 bucks US
here's the vid on how to remove it...or similar

if you cant fix it you can get most anybody anybody
husband boyfriend dad neighbor coworker who works on cars craigslist repair person
the real idea here is that you now know that it wont be 308 pounds to fix

oh i'm sure it will mess with something
'cause as soon as i say it wont... guess what
but
once fixed a reset could indeed be necessary
that would most likely be taking the battery terminals off for a time
15min... hour...

you do however have an 05 so it 'may' need a battery reset....
if you remove the cables
i have not figured myself if the later E53 had to be reset or not
again that is a very simple process

Thanks for your advice, I'll see what BMW daealership says, then just have to make a judgement call, money or gauranteed success with warranty. here's hoping its the cylinder and as you say just removing the lock and putting new barrel in. Thanks again, keep you posted!
