What is needed to convert my 05 E66? I am interested if its not too much of a pita.

nothing everything should be plug an play. There might be some coding but maybe you can contact Papers he good with that stuff to be on the safe side.

MMI is a simple plug and play and then just code the options you want

ASK is straight forward plug and play with no coding needed

The MMI needs to be coded to the cars options .
The ASK unit needs to have the VIN changed & coded .

ROLL yOUR EYES ALL YOU WANT , BUT I DO RECOMMEND IT !!!

you don't really need to have the vin changed , but
its better to have the vin done , so if you ever go to the
dealer there is no problem when reading your car . I
have heard of a few people having issue's when the dealer
tried to read & update code on there car .
( i personally never had a problem , but my vin was
added to anything i changed in my car )

When it comes to electrical retrofit, don't question PAPER. He is the real guru.

I believe he has attempted the unthinkable already and trust me, he knows and understands coding needed for full functionality of these units.

When i put my FL ASK in it worked without coding, played CD's straight away, didnt have to code it to play cd's that is what i meant.

well then your reply should have said so , but it
didn't . Which would lead any 1 who does not know
to think all of the ask unit would work , when in reality
on the cd works & not the am or fm radio or mode buttons .

There are a lot of new members on here who would have bought
both these units thinking nothing else needed to be done , because
of your reply . We are all here to help each other & when posting
you should post the entire facts & not mislead other members by
making partial untrue statements .

He said its better to code it so there is no problems in the future. And IMO its a good advise so later on ppl dont come and say" holly **** i have a problem computer doesnt read my MMI and ASK unit or doesnt see it at all then we spent time figuring out what is wrong and what he missed. Really dude if there is nothing to say please just dont. We ( ppl who know who to trust will follow what and who gives us advise) as we know who has more experience but ppl who have been here for a lil time dont know that and they will do whatever u tell them even if its incorrect. At least put it as ur not sure or needs to be confirmed i bet paper didnt say that just to look smart infront of everybody. There is a reason for it. So rolling ur eyes ...thats just wrong.
