Next BMW x5 v8 or not?
Have the 50I now and while its a great car I think I might just load up a v6 instead....
depending on the new style etc. Love the power of the 50i but the cops are relentless with that car, even 8 over the speed limit it seems to be a target. When does the new model launch? I will be on the market next August. With the right options can the car be as comfortable as a Ranger Rover..my need for speed is done and just want a nice cruiser. The new 6 series 4 door looks great, but love being up high still. |

Sam, BMW does not have a V6 -- it is an inline 6. Not a bad idea, the I6 will give you much better mileage and very decent performance. As a benchmark the X3 35i runs the same time 0-60 as the X5 50i! Very nice engine!

I drove it originally and loved it. I made my 50i more 'sporty' and my driving style changed ( after a $300 speeding ticket lol). I was thinking of loading the v6 to make it comfortable etc. or just going with the new 6 series 4 door.
My suspension is so stiff on the 50i wondering if some of the options to to adjust that are worth it. only downside is quality issue of my BMW feels rather cheap/some electronic issues, other than that might get another. |

Do you have AD? Also, do you have 20"s? |

Hell yes, I would probably keep up with the V8. I don't care about the power or MPG. I like the noise!

It's just as easy to speed in the 3.5 as the 5.0. It just takes 1.1 seconds longer to get to illegal speeds.

You drive a 5.0i and don't have technological countermeasures like RL + EL?

I would expect two engines for launch. Probably tweaks to the current engines. Doubt a diesel for launch. Jury is out if we will even see another diesel ... Maybe we will get some hybrid thing. |

I'd second the ditching the RFT idea - I just put a set of Continental extremecontact DWS and noticed a gigantic improvement in drive quality. Even my wife noticed!
