Setting the Home address
Had posted this in the coding forum, but for some reason it didn't take, so trying again here.
I created an Address book entry (from a current location)l, then edited it to have the name "Home". When using voice command (Navigation / Address book / 'Home') it responds there is no entry for 'Home' (voice command does recognize other Address book entries by name successfully). Have tried this twice with the same results, leading me to conclude there is a special reserved contact for 'Home' (I note in the manual a picture of the Address book with a 'Home' entry and a note that "The home address must stored."). So, how do you set the address/position for 'Home'? |

RTFM, that is what I had to do for my older system, and I am sure it does not work the same way on the newer system.

bump...
So has anybody successfully set the 'Home' address to work with voice command? How did you do it? |

In my E-60, the older system, it is in the navigation address book. Be home, go to address book, highlight the pre-named 'home' address, select it with the controller, and use the current position.
That is how it works on my older system, and that is what I would try first.

Just name you contact home.it works on my e90 no reason it would not work on an f30. I hit the voice button and say phone book and the car says please say a name, I say home and the car says do you want to call home and I say yes and it dials. To be honest it's much easier to program one of the memory buttons to dial home.

That's just what I've tried (name your contact home), but the system will not recognize it as "Home" even though an entry so named appears in the NAV address book.
With all other NAV systems I've had experience with they have a pre-defined contact named 'home' and the way the F30 NAV manual reads that's what I expected to find. However, no such entry pre-existed in the system so I created one. That it won't recognize the newly created contact as "Home" tends to affirm my expectation that there is already a pre-defined "Home" contact in the system that you need to assign an address to. Sounds like the E90 system was different and, indeed, you created a contact and named it home. What I really need to know is how others have done it on an F30. Surprised there's been no reply in that regard. Are F30 owner's not using it? |

Did you try going to the address book directly, and looking at the named addresses? IIRC the prenamed HOME address also had an icon there.
