Exclamation Display Blanks On & Off

What's up Bimmer Family! Ok here we go. I drive the 2005 645 ci BMW. My display all of a sudden began to blank on and off simultaneously turning off the music this summer. I did check the navigation dvd and it was fine. Did a software update twice! And still no bueno.

Recently the weather temperatures got cold and all of a sudden the radio and display were temporarily fixed, however, after the warm temperatures returned or I drove the car for an extended time the problem returned. Also I went on vacation for a week and return and it seemed the problem had solved itself despite warm temperatures but the problem quickly returned. Please let me know if anyone can help or has any advice on experiencing this issue before I pay the arm and leg to replace the entire system.

My car is in the shop for this right now. I believe they said it was the DSC issue. I have a aftermarket warranty that covered it but they wanted 1100 plus labor if it wasnt for the warrenty

Hey Osbornes26, If you do not mind what warranty company did you go with and do they pay BMW/local shop direct? I am looking for a third party that will cover everything and has excellent customer service.

Hey qhsprn! Have you ever replaced your battry? Could be as simple as a battry problem. Look at a few post here in regards to this problem.

Thanks! I think I will try this first. Seems to be a simple enough solution.

If you don't get the battery from a BMW dealer, make sure to get it programmed to your car.

Hey Mulchman, I finally got my setup done for doing coding. Not sure if im going to do too much of that but got the soaftware setup to help diagnose probelms when they do occur. Took some time to get it going, had to down grade to XP to get it working right.

Sweet! Agreed on the XP. I tried to follow the win7-64 instructions and was having several issues. Did a disk format and started over with XP.

I don't plan to do any real coding either. I do plan to configure a couple of options at some point. Like deleting the disclosure message on iDrive and adding turn signals to the HUD. But it is a diagnostic and tweek station for the most part.

Congrats on getting through the install
