Hello everyone,
I need your honest opinions and this might have been covered before but what do you guys think of Alpina wheels on the e39. I saw these and I really like them and pretty sure they will fit on the e39 considering bore and offset etc. So waiting for everyones opinions, criticism, thoughts :S, go.... lol http://www.ebay.ca/itm/19-INCH-STAGG...ht_9765wt_1270

Obviously not real for the price. But I'm hoping for that price they are good replicas and look as good as they do in real life as they do in the images. I usually do not like to buy replicas but I couldn't resist and these would look super clean and classy on an e39 540i.

They look classy to me, not aggressive/sporty, but it would be interesting to see them in motion

Alpina's are classic and timeless.
The e-bay seller does not indicate a manufacturer of the "B7" wheel. I doubt that they are true Alpina. I'd do more homework before spending $1,400 for 19" wheels. Here is a link to another Alpina rep - Kopi wheels, sold by Abrahams Motorsport. http://www.abrahamsmotorsport.com/kopi.html It is different style, but Kopi and Abrahams have been together for some time. The max size they sell is 18x8.

Hi,
Here's a couple more options for any of you thinking about Alpina wheels. These are replica's so obviously not as good as genuine items, however they're much more 'lookalike' to genuine Alpina wheels than the 'Kopi' ones linked above. http://www.bmautosport.co.uk/showroo...h=51_24_148_34 Here's the 19 inch versions of the more Classic styled Alpina wheels. Also, these are much higher quality replica's as they're made in Germany and not in the Far East somewhere. I've seen these wheels in person quite some time back as someone I know locally purchased a set. http://www.bmautosport.co.uk/showroo...h=51_24_148_34 For any bimmerfest members who want these wheels, drop me a line and I can organise having them sent over to you. I know the owner of the shop I link above and I've already sent out sets of the M Parallel 19 inch replica's to enthusiasts in the USA. Shipping isn't as expensive as you'd think and I'm able ot secure discounts from some of the many freight handlers I know nearby here in Heathrow. Cheers, Dennis! |

Hello everyone. Can someone please help me out. I have taken a risk and ordered these wheels and I am positive they will look great on the car. Might be a little pricey but the seller is reputable and they look good quality and usually my luck pulls through on ebay.
None the less, I went to my tire retailer today the guy i usually deal with is going to set me up with either Michelin or BF Goodrich Z/ or W rated tires. My concern is will everything fit. The front will be 235/35/R19 and the back will be 265/30/R19. He told me the front is going to rub and the mud-flap/wheel well liner might need to be removed. The offset on the front is 19/8.5 What is everyones experience with 19' on the e39 540i and is there fitment issues. The wheel's bore is 74.1mm offset is 20+ and bolt 5 by 120. So everything is ok, I am just concerned with the width in front end. I know the back end will be ok, just front end space is limited. Someone please help before I order tires. Thanks.

Hi,
The 'usual' sizing is 245/35/19 F and 275/30/19 rear. Many owners (currently myself as well!) will go 235/35/19 F and 265/30/19 R for just that little bit of clearance. This is usally for when the car is lowered. How much lower is your car ? if standard height, you won't have an issue, unless your suspension is tired and saggy. If you have mud flaps, then you'll need to perhaps get the wheels / tyres on and see if it does foul, if so, consider removing them. Cheers, Dennis! |

My car has the regular sport suspension and it doesn't seem saggy so I am hoping the wheels will fit. I am just concerned as my offset is changing from the original to 8.5 on the front so I don't want it to rub. So 235/35/19 should fit on the front with an 8.5 wheel?

Keep in mind that the E39 ambient temp sensor uses the r fender liner as a mounting point so you'll need to find a place to attach it. Otherwise you'll have issues w/ it dragging.

They don't look aggressive but I think they still look sporty.

Let me be the first to speak up and say they are not only ugly but very dated looking.

What temp sensor is n the fender? I thought the exterior temp that displays on the dash was the one under the front bumper.

Hi,
Definitely lower the car ! it just looks 'off' right now! These design Alpina's which come on much newer cars are more 'angular' and the spoke design comes right out to the wheels 'edge' - designs like this give the illusion the wheel is bigger than it's stated size. For this reason, you'd need to lower a little more aggressively as they currently 'look like they could be 20's' - and 20's on an E39 requires more of a lowering in order to 'balance' out the aesthetic looks, I suggest going with coilovers for this. Cheers, Dennis! |
