I've been reading that it may be necessary to replace the tire pressure sensor. The thingy in the tires that measures the air pressure.

Has anyone out there heard of this to be true? I don't find any mention of it in my vehicle manuals?

That is typically done when new tires are mounted on the rims. Tire shops have rebuild kits to ensure seals still work correctly as the TPMS is located at the valve stem of the tire.

You don't have sensors in your '05 tire valves.

You have the indirect Flat Tire Monitor (FTM) that utilizes the ABS sensors to detect a rotation speed discrepancy caused by loss of air pressure in one tire.

So no issue at all when you replace tires.

Direct TPMS was phased in during the 2006 model year.
