Then past 60k all the other parts and bushings go bad.(This is also usually when your warrty runs out). So at 60-75k back to either the dealer or the trusted indy. 75-100k things are sweet again as most of the parts on the car are either new or have recently been done. Then 100 and over the dreaded weep hole/valve seals go, the engine leaks coolant, oil and blows blue smoke.
So sad but Kinda true my 750 has been at the dealer every approx 1k miles.
Ahh now that makes sense - car is at 55K miles

Gas gauge isnt accurate, was in last month they recoded the whole car and changed the cluster( yes the cluster 3k) I knew it wasnt the problem and told them that, dealer changed the cluster, did make it less eratic but its not correct all the time i think its the sensor.

You can check this out yourself in the hidden menu. After you unlock it, lock at the sensor data. I think it is called ACS. It will show ohms on the right and left sensor. If the ohms reading is higher than 450 your sensor is bad. Here is the part number and cost for the right side sensor:

RIGHT FUEL LEVEL SEN
Make: Bmw
16117183795

1 $75.82

You are under warranty but I would bet my check on the sensor. There is a technical service bulletin the dealer should have on the sensor.

Found the Lemforder bushings for $33 each at European Auto Parts vs $85-90 elsewhere. My Indy wants to supply the parts to guarantee the work so I have printed my pending order so he can order from there hopefully. I will not spend $360 on parts when I can obtain the identical parts for $132. If that does not work, I'll have my other Indy do the job. The first guy works on Euro cars and specialty cars and is my first choice while the other guy is more of a general guy that does domestic, Asian and Euro brands.

See if any of the technicians were previously worked at BMW. A lot of them after working there for years start their own.

I am getting an estimate at a local import guy who is willing to order from my source. The other local guy has a dude named corky working there and has "prolly" never seen a BMW so that is why it matters who does it. If I had a lift, sincerely yours would be doing it.

For good reason. My Alfa engine lasted 1 day after the non specialist did the timing belt but failed to do the tensioner.

Local Indy looked: No GO- does not want to get into programming the self leveling suspension. He recommended the dealer or drive as is and trade as planned.

I have the other specialty import Indy set up next week to give an estimate. I have another theory I am working on-you'll be the first to know once I try this.

The smartest thing you can do is next time it rains drive right into a telephone poll going at least 20mph. Wash you hands of this car before it washes you. These cars are great when there working with no peoblemsn I owned one for 35k miles. At the end of that time I was leaking coolant , oil, transmission was clunky, clanging front right suspension, and ticking noise from engine. It's a joke, I went a bought a ls430. Yes when it turns it leans over some. My seat doesn't massage, and my trunk isnt air conditioned but I'm confident I could drive this car too 200k with just fluid changes. Brand new a ls 430 is 60k 745 90k ' 8 years later the Lexus is worth twice as much. I wouldn't touch another e65/66.
I recommend you unload this car in a tree get maximum dollars back. Get a ls430 and be done with it.

Don't lie to yourself, the car is worth nothing on resale. Cars that were 30k less brand new are worth twice as much. I owned one and I tried to convince myself how nice it was yadadadada but after all the repair/repairs it needed. If you browse the forum its all post of ridiculous problems. This a luxury car that transmission cannot shift smooth for it life for than 40% of the time. But hey it stays flat when you turn..... **** the e65 royally I lost 10 grand owning this car in 10 months. In value, maintenance cost then resale. There is no point to argue on the behalf of the 7.

The last two posts are bang on. I should have bought a Lexus LS460. It's absolutely shameful that BMW produced such a troublesome vehicle. Yeah, yeah, it's the nicest driving vehicle I've ever owned. I just wish I could drive it more without wondering and worrying every other mile, that an SES light, transmission fail-safe light, DC sensor light, or some other problem will crop up. I wouldn;t dream of taking this thing on a long trip. I cannot say the same thing about my 2002 Acura even though it has far more mileage on it.

Hi! I see you had a bad experience. I also see what your getting at but don't come on this member thread bashing his car. He has enough headaches to deal with already. You telling him to run it into a tree is ridiculous. P.S part of your problem was that it was a 745 the other problem was it was out of warranty so that's why you had a bad experience. In his case I do believe it was a rare case being that his car is a 08 750. From my knowledge they have fewer problems than it predecessor. So lets try an help this member an keep our personal thought of the 7 to ourselves
