2001 325i won't start

I'm seriously ready to just drive this car off a cliff, so hopefully someone here can help me with my latest problem. I'll try to keep it brief....

About a year ago the car wasn't starting so I replaced the spark plugs, fuel pump, and fuel filter. Took care of the problem for several months, but then it started running super rough and dying when idling. Took her to the shop and found a leaky valve cover gasket, had that replaced. That was about 3 weeks ago. Car's been doing wonderfully, then all of a sudden this morning, it won't start. All the lights come on and radio starts so it's not the battery. It clicks and clicks but won't turn over. Then, when I turn the key back, it makes a winding sound, almost like a camera winding film at the end of a reel. Is it my starter? Any suggestions? Uuuuggghhhh......

Try to jump start it from another car and see what will happen. All lights are on does not mean the battery is good.

Every indication points to a bad battery.

Just because the lights turn on and the radio runs does not translate to a battery capable of cranking a motor.
