I used Costco to buy my Prius a few years ago. At that time, Costco didn't give a price, just a contact at a dealership. So, I never figured out whether or not I got a "deal".

When I bought my X3, I figured out what I wanted, what I wanted to spend (i.e. $500 over invoice), and I emailed five of the dealers in the area with the configuration and asked them if they could meet that price. Two replied that they could and I went with one of them. No haggling required. If they can't, they'll reply with what they can do.
