Is full internet on connected drive possible?

Is this possible in the US on newer E70's w/o coding?
I have a 2013 and cant find this option.

So why does BMW show this in their demo images?

They show Europe images on the US site too

EU iDrive has it. You use your smartphone's data connection for the internet. It's pretty cool

I had this coded on my previous car, and never used the internet browser. If you really want this it could be coded, but you would lose your current BMW online and you wouldn't be able to receive messages from google maps.

Thanks for the info. It's not worth losing BMW Assist features over.

That's not entirely true. BMW assist will still work ... Well emergency call ... You just have to use the SOS button in the headliner rather than the GUI. Teleservice might not work though as it tries to call European call numbers which gets interesting.

You're right though that send to car from google maps no longer works

However nearly all the services from BMW online are replicated in BMW live.

Which services do you use and want to keep. I can tell you if they are removed or not ...

Yea, but you'll need tethering on your phone.

Concierge service or BMW online is pretty much replicated with BMW live. Theres no ability to call a live agent though. Tethering is required as mentioned above. Note. BMW live is a free service.

Google send to car is not supported however if you search over on e90post I posted a thread on how you can search goggle maps on your iOS device and then transfer this to the car as a navigation entry without assist.

Yea. You know I read somewhere that someone ran into issues with a jail broken iPhone with tethering ... But your mileage may vary.

I'm using a AT&T tethering plan and it works without any issues. If you do this update be sure to download the very latest firmware from BMW.com/update for the combox. The latest update fixed a whole boat load of issues around tethering with iPhone.
